I was always annoyed and frustrated with Delia because I agree it never felt like she truly believed her

I mean to be fair, Jim has no other option but to be in Sam's body. Jim's body is gone, they buried him and never got to bury Sam because of Jim stepping into his body. He has no choice but to be in Sam's body forever. As for Delia, she was a huge skeptic. There's layers to being a skeptic, they just don't believe everything all at once, it takes time for them to put faith in something.
