Thinking of Charging Upfront for New Patrons
🕑 Added 2017-07-02 06:37:20 +0000 UTC This month there were close to about 25-30 Fraudulent Patrons. Who pledged 3$ and they were fraudulent. So their Payments did not go through. Declined Payments are ok.But these guys joined last month, Had Access to ALL My Images .... And Its not fair to You My Existing Patrons who have spent your hard earned money to pledge and support a Small Digital Artist Like myself.
Just wanted to hear your opinions on this ?
Thank You All for supporting me and encouraging me to pursue my goal of becoming a Full Time Digital Artist .

I had the same issue, I am changing to Charging Upfront, but had to send a support message for Patreon, as the system says my phone number for SMS validation doesn't exist. All my new patrons were Fraudulent.
Btw, I found this online and didn't know if you would need to contact the individual who posted it to remove it, I'd hate for someone to harm your prospects at getting more patrons. My first comment on Patreon and I now discover that I have an avatar and it looks like an autistic chipmunk... great.
I just joined I was a little surprised it didn't take the funds immediately upon sign-up. I think it'd make sense that until payment clears there should be no access.

It is not only unfair. Right at the beginning such behaviour could be deadly for a new business.

With Tom on this too. I honestly thought that it waited to grant access until the payment was verified by default.
I fully agree with Tom above. The funds must be in your hands BEFORE these types of people have access to files!!!
