Wouter v. Dam

I would sooner say this proves the opposite. They went through all this trouble just to get her myr ratings. Anyone on the council could just have asked her to get those, since Mirian likes to share her myr capacity with them to let them know they should not mess with her. It's quite solid proof there is another prophet working entirely separate from the council.

Keven Leigh

Someone in the council is actively working against her. Too much information about her was leaked for it to just be the Arkannans

Armo

One more thing about the combat here: the Akanans developed at least a limited ability to track Mirian throughout this engagement. I’m looking forward to how Mirian develops tracking countermeasures against this for the next time she needs to face an army. I’m sure they’re possible, Mirian just needs to put her mind to how to develop them. It’s also interesting to see how Orichalcum has limited effectiveness in stopping Mirian from killing people outright. Mirian might want to invest more time developing ways to kill through that resistance. For example, In the fight against the Praetorians, Gaius made his curses stick even through orichalcum armour. That’s the kind of stuff Mirian may want more of!

Tanna

There was a mention of how Celen's soul was entirely gone from his dead body, like what happens when Prophets die, instead of deteriorating over time. That can probably be faked by a skilled necromancer though.

Josiah

You know, there's nothing really saying Celen is even really a looper. No one has actually seen his soul to verify there is an anchor there. We know he was yelling about the end of the world in newspapers and went to the Akanan prophets meeting early on but none of them had soul sight then. Wonder if Celen has a roommate or friend or someone that is the actual prophet and had him act and go in their place out of caution. And now they stage Celen's death as suicide to fly under the others' radar. Would fit Scebur's MO of using other people to execute his plans.

steamrick

Just as impressive as her pure strength is that her gains don't seem to be slowing down. If she hasn't outright surpassed her father, she's damn close - and the lich has had literal centuries to raise his output as high as he possibly can.

FuriousDee

This has shown that nothing short of a continental coalition can defeat her. I bet that they would have needed Dervishes and probably a lot of them to fight her in those tunnels.

Tanna

I just hope Luspire gets to fight Tyrcast somehow

Stormbuilder

Mirian knows that she is the operational target. She knows that either Liuan is playing her, or there is a mysterious Scebur that holds way too much influence. Her top priority should not be winning the battle, it should be capturing high ranking Akanans and figuring out who their boss is. The only negative consequence about losing the battle is to cut the cycle short by a few months. Which is not great, but of far lesser consequence than letting an enemy prophet gain ground

Stormbuilder

Ok, I am sorry to say this, but this is verging into the author having Mirian hold the idiot ball just for the sake of prolonging the Scebur mystery.

Armo

I wonder if Mirian is going to chase down Tyrcast’s ship and make him talk. She’d probably concentrate on the leaders of the army group, and I’m not sure if Tyrcast is that.

Ronan Cadoret

Unless the unknown prophet is also ridiculously powerful, this test has shown that Mirian cannot be defeated in a straightfoward battle. I expect more underhanded blows to come. Sabotage, attacks on her allies, assassinations, etc...

Armo

Mmmm, Mirian’s made some good progress since chapter 243 (I think), where she scored something like 161 Myr IIRC. It seems like her progress is in 1) overall strength, 2) efficiency (to be able to fight for so long with so little time to recover), 3) tactics and strategy. All important areas to improve in! And I’m not sure this one was even the absolute best she could do if she went all out. Even if Scebur gets these numbers, they will not last for long at the pace Mirian is improving. She will just have to make sure not to disappoint! Ultimately, the main takeaway for me here is that Mirian is powerful enough for it to no longer be joke that she may some day soon be able to fight this whole army group by herself. She’s had some advantages this time from allies and a defensive position, and had to call in Myrvite support to get the job done, but it really does seem to be close to where she can do this herself start to finish. Even without additional raw power, which she will absolutely get more of if only through the staff and armour, there are bound to be esoteric spells like entropic shielding (or even the shielding of the type the myrvite titans use) which would let Mirian punch above her weight class. I wonder if Troytin and Scebur were working together. This talk of heretics is making me think of Troytin’s final outburst.

tentacles4all

Why need readings? Smells like Elder politics.

Michael Vonica

The theory is that Scebur has some kind of mind magic.

Anonymous

Imagine being so dangerous you eat artillery shells

Jesus

Okay, probably Liuan passing herself as Sebur and faking her death then. Sebur wouldn't have the knowledge on how manipulate Akanans to make such a focused attack with the primary objective of getting info on Miriam.

YarrowFlowers

there is also a small chance that it’s actually a prophet who fled incredibly deeply from Troytin and has spent the last decades learning something esoteric before emerging with deep set traumas against other loopers. Or damn Celen faking his death every time.

Robocreator223

I wonder who the True Prohpet is. I bet it’s Liuan personally but I could see it being Jherica too

Enthernal

great chapter. Good to see Mirian isn't overextending, seems some of Gaius' lessons stuck. Now I want to see some retaliation and investigation. The enemy got an idea of her power, now it's time for her to finally learn something about them.

FuriousDee

If she is able to use her book to control the true titan then that comparison will only grow stronger. Plus her armour basically being the leyline weapon the Akanan’s made up

Gustav

So thats the ”oh shit” plan! :D

Nasrak Ragnarok

It’s funny how well Mirian fits the image of a Heretical Prophet: completely ignoring collateral damage, using myrvites as a central part of the defense, the necromancy. As time goes on I can only imagine that she’ll become more and more isolated as her disconnect from humanity combined with her sheer power makes her far too dangerous to even be in the vicinity of.

FuriousDee

I guess if any of the other prophets know those numbers we have a hint they are Secbur

FuriousDee

Well that is one way of making people go oh shit Hopefully she got most people out of the town before this

YarrowFlowers

love the Tyrcast POV, it’s vital when you have a protagonist of this scale to ensure they always remain narratively compared to the forces that exist around them and this is a great display Tyrcasts accurate readings will 100% reach Scebur love how the politics show up in his thought process.

Myr S.

love this <3 i hope Miriam gets to the moon soon
