Because of this some early translations of the one piece manga have Luffy as Ruffy and Zoro as Zolo. It is very funny to think about. Note some still do this.

There three types of devil fruits. Logia is one of those types. Crocodile is a great example cause Luffy couldn’t hit him normally

There are three types of devil fruits. Logia, paramecia and zoan. Logia are supposed to be the rarest and strongest devil fruits. One way to recognize a logia user is that there body does not have physical forms. A normal attack wont hurt them. For example all the logia we have seen till now are smoker, crocodile and now enel. Talking about paramecia in the crew luffy and robin are paramecia devil fruit users and chopper is a zoan type. Zoan fruits are also easily recognizable as they are mostly related to animals.

Since nobody answered your plea, i took it upon myself to explain ENERU/ENEL's pronunciation xD First tho, thanks for all the great reactions, I've been having a blast! Now, the name is written with the characters commonly transcribed as "E, "NE", and "RU/LU" ( エネル ). In Japanese there are no distinct characters that distinguish between an "R" and an "L" sound. That being said, it usually is transcribed as an "R". Hence his name is written as Eneru. As to its pronunciation: Whether the character is pronounced with an "R" or an "L" depends on the situation, e.g. "LUffy", "ZoRO". In Eneru's case it is pronounce as an "L". Furthermore the "U" is fairly silent, which results in his name being translated as "Enel". In regards to the first '"E'", try copying " エ " in to google translate. Or just disregard every i said and just copy the whole thing and go from there xD In any case, i hope you're having a great day!

In 175, was when we first heard the term Logia, when Laki was thinking about the nature of Enel's Devil Fruit powers. You've seen other Logia devil fruit users before too... like Crocodile, Ace, and Smoker. In 82, we first heard of the term Zoan, to describe the type of Devil Fruit that Dalton ate. Other users of Zoan fruits are: Chopper, Pierre. In episode 165, we hear Wyper describing Luffy's abilities as Paramecia. Every Devil Fruit ability that we've seen so far that wasn't Logia or Zoan is Paramecia. So now we know of the three types of Devil Fruits-- Logia, Paramecia, and Zoan.
