bit late, but unfortunately the source material is constantly on a hiatus. just take a look on https://hiatus-hiatus.github.io/ and you will see that all the grey is weeks that HunterxHunter did not get a chapter. And currently it has passed more then 100 issues of shonen jump since the last chapter

The anime doesn't end in the middle of an arc. It actually stops in a pretty good spot. It's just the manga keeps going after that point.
