More than assassins, I'd say it's a YuGiOh Season 1 card duel, or Ultra Instinct Goku vs. Jiren. Also the end there was something called sarcasm XD Hot tip for this crazy show: Don't take everything literally lol. There's a lot of insinuating, reading between the lines, metaphors, etc. going on.

Also I second the Saiki K recommendation above. It's super narration heavy of people's internal thoughts being delivered super fast, but it's one of the only recent anime series that's made me crack up out loud.

YEAAAAAAAA! Great reaction. The show's visuals are definitely fuckin trippy and got that red/black/white retro-drippy style. It's awesome to look at the second time around when I don't have to pay attention to dialogue as hard.

To explain to you why they can't confess to each other. Watch the bit before the opening again. Basically they both have the philosophy that he who confesses is weak in a relationship so they are playing mind games to get the other to confess. That is what the show is about
