Actually, at this point of the anime, iirc, they were swapping out teams of animators each week to prevent burn-out. So some weeks you get top-notch work and other weeks you get more simplistic styles. IIRC they were trying to experiment for how they'd continue on with weekly on the long term with less breaks in scheduling. It was also around this time, that I think Oda had to go on break from the manga, so I'm pretty sure they were trying to cover for the loss of the manga with more anime.

I just wanna mention that bounties in One Piece are not at all like power scaling systems in other shows like Dragon Ball Z that have numbers meant to convey strength. Bounties are purely the level of threat that someone poses to the World Government, not necessarily their strength. Strength is a key factor, but other things such as defiance of the WG and level of cruelty are also important factors. For example, the only reason why Eustass Kid has a higher bounty than Luffy is that he's harmed civilians, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's stronger than Luffy. Dragon is also called "the world's most dangerous criminal" because unlike the Emperors of the Sea (Shanks, Whitebeard, etc) he's directly trying to take out the WG. Tl;dr: Bounties are just a measure of clout, not necessarily strength.

Yeah, when i started it, its so amazing to think back to myself. "you have no idea what your in for" this is by far my favorite long running shonen. But yeah i the pacing recently has been painful, watching week to week is not a good idea for this series. I recommend waiting until a arc is finished once your caught up and treating arcs like seasons, its 10 times better that way.

If you do start reading the manga there is a section of Q&A with Oda called the SBS after many of the chapters. I highly advise checking them out too, as they are wonderful and really help to build an almost personal connection to the mastermind himself. Also the cover stories that happen throughout are cannon, and don't always get convered by the anime. I have read and re-read and watched and rewatched so many times at this point, and I swear I still catch new details almost every time. Love the journey, and enjoying the ride together. ^^

One Piece is weird (in good way) i LOVE One Piece and it is without doubt my favorite anime despite fact that i know it is not best anime but I dont care i just love this LONG journey it is like lot of different anime in one, thanks to different islands and so many cool "side" characters like Mihawk, Shanks and so on ... i remember first time i started it i watch all 500 episodes what were out in less than three weeks i even once or twice bleed from my nose :D

also for the record Sentomaru is not Kizaru's nephew. It's translated as him calling him "Uncle" but it's in the sense that he's just calling him "old man" it's not literal and the bubbles popping is supposed to signify each straw hat disappearing

God these episodes still break me to this day! even if it's implied that they are ok and there are episodes ahead of this one just watching this go down watching Luffy who is normally so happy break down as in his eyes he's basically losing everyone and could do nothing about it, it's all just so much that it hurts and I'm just grateful I had the chance to binge everything. When I first saw this I had school the next day and could barely sleep with all the tears and thoughts going through my head and having to wait till late the next day since I had so many other obligations to handle 😭😭

Each bubble represents a straw hat. As they disappear by kuma they pop. The wide shots of them as we go through the episode show how many straw hats have yet to be attacked my kuma. In the end you see a single bubble on it's own that is luffy as he is the last one remaining. The bubbles have nothing to deal with Kuma's powers.

When Luffy hurts, you hurt. His despair is just so visceral and he's breaking as he loses everyone, all of his nakama. He just feels the loss so completely. Like the voice actor does such an amazing job and really connecting you to Luffy in this moment, cause even though the audience has a clue that Kuma is helping the Strawhats, Luffy has none of that forbearance and seeing the usually happy-go-lucky captain tearing himself apart in despair makes you despair too Thankfully in the manga, the chapter were Zoro is poofed, then the chapter that everyone else got poofed, and then the next chapter after didn't have any break weeks in between them, like waiting a week was hard enough

The art changes because each episode has it's own director. Some of the directors prefer specific art styles. This style shows up in a few episodes like in Thriller Bark and it's meant to show movement. Some directors prefer the hard lines and highly detailed art. One Piece has a more fluid style than other anime due to the large number of people working on it and its long life.

I remember how this three episodes broke me when I have seen it for the first time. I swear, seeing Luffy, the ever laughing goofball with his sunshine smiles, break down like that, got me wailing like a baby. I just wanted to hug him so much at that time. Also, seeing Sanji be so desperate to save his ever so hated Marimo, or hearing Usopp's screams as every shot just did no damage, or that Nami's call for help... My heart just shriveled and died. I will never comprehend how is it possible to get so much attached to fictional characters. They are literally like a family figures to me as corny or weird as it sounds, but it's true. I will be forever grateful to Oda for writing this story and I'm proud living in this Age to be able to follow it as it is made. 👑👒🔥

Episode 405, that episode has broken a lot of people. This is the first time we see Luffy breakdown. We've seen him cry and struggle, but at this moment, Luffy truly broke down and he couldn't do anything for his friends. The wait for the next chapter had me mental.

Well anime yes, but jojos manga came out way before one piece. Actually i think there even was jojos OVA before one piece anime. Surprisingly jojos is a longer series than OP when looking at the number of volumes
