As far as the pacing with self-destruct Fana, I think it's supposed to be jarringly short with Asta swinging his sword and dispersing Salamandar, despite Salamadar's immense strength. I think it showcases just how powerful a weapon Asta's anti-magic is. Like, for me, it puts an emphasis on the idea that despite the fact that he's an 'ordinary' peasant boy with no 'power' at all (he's strong as shit, yeah, but in this world power is equated with Magic, which he has none of).

I don't think the Fana/Salamander fight was too quick, considering we had Noel's Sea Dragon Roar and then Asta's Bull Thrust team-up attack before these episodes. And the Bull Thrust was basically when they won since Fana was putting most of her mana into Salamander (a mana-based lifeform) and Asta completely destroyed it and she had to reform it. Basically, Salamander was all she got. Asta and Mars in ep 61 were just trying to stop the self-destruct, like how Yami came in and stopped Vetto's self-destruct with a one-shot. In both fights, the Eye of the Midnight Sun had already lost and were suicide bombing as a last resort.

yeah its not paced well as many seasonal anime but its by far the best pacing long running shonen I have seen. I haven't seen them all, so can't say its for sure the fastest paced.

I’m so happy you’re going to be watching 62 and 63 together. I also appreciated what you said about Asta’s character. He is such a good person who wants to make sure that no has to endure what he, Yuno, and everyone else at orphanage has over the years. However, he’s definitely not to express what someone needs to hear like Mars.

I disagree that fights in the series are too quick. Yes they did beat Fana's self destruct but that took them an episode, then episode 58 and 59 they were also fighting Fana, so I see it more like a 3 to 4 episode fight similar to Vettos and Lichts fights. So when you think about it it is quite slow. Shows like JJK are still a lot quicker than Black clover when it comes to pacing. When you get to a certain arc you will see what speed really means in Black Clover XD
