Barto never actually said anything about wanting to kill Luffy, that is just what Cavendish interpreted when Barto said he is not going to let Cavendish kill Luffy :)

theres a few characters in that scene and other scenes throughout the show that somewhat match. the argument then becomes did oda play X character to be in Y location ahead of time or did he make that character to look like a random background character similar to making vivi a princess. if you know what im talking about you know. but that mohawk has to be coincidence or barto was made because of it since at that time the show wasnt going to be that long no way this 1 character was planned out that early but who knows of course oda is crazy

I think it's only fair to tell you the Kano Kingdom is actually in the West Blue, not in the Grand Line or New World. Also some trivia, like a lot of Oda's fictional kingdoms, Kano is modeled after a real place, China.

So a clarification: Barto told Cavendish that he was not going to let him kill Luffy. Cavendish assumed that meant Barto wanted to kill Luffy himself, but the guy had said no such thing. Hope this helps you understand. Now things are going to get even crazier, but you should know that the upcoming section is a good part of why some people don't care much for this arc, what many people point to when they complain about it too drawn out. I myself don't have much of a problem with it, and chances are that you might enjoy it, but forewarned is forearmed I always say.
