Funnily enough both my parents are computer scientists (which is cool since there's very little I need to explain to them), but unfortunately I can't write from experience when it comes to Boomer being tech illiterate.

It's kind of hard to understand the depths to which computer illiteracy can go until exposed to it. My father's laptop was running slowly years ago. It turned out he had many dozens of instances of the media player open. Every time he'd watch a movie, he somehow opened another instance until it ran out of memory and was swapping to the hard drive for everything. He also somehow zoomed in the desktop icons so only about four fit on the screen. I'm sure my generation and the one after perhaps could get away with a ton of things their parents couldn't understand to even catch them doing. Not that all older people are technically illiterate, but enough are.
