Now this reminds me of one of the old, more prose pieces, depicting an AU where Trace and Flora drift apart instead of getting close. Trace resumes his duties as grand templar, and Flora becomes a resistance/revolution warlord, rising against the templar regime. She’s a battle-hardened and battle-scarred badass, but she still is haunted by the what-if of what could’ve happened (the real canon)
