I'd consider them to be somewhat evenly matched. Trace's mastery of magic, if not raw power, is likely unmatched in Mekkan, but Adelaide, being the strongest of the Basitin race, is nigh-immune to it, and a tower of strength, fighting experience and strategy/tactics. How this could turn out is anyone's guess.

Sorry for this very long text. If possible, I would like y’all’s opinion on my theory/idea.

Reminds me of the scene in the comics where Trace was Captured by the Templars and snapped and broke free when he could feel Flora being electrocuted by General Alabaster, thus causing him to basically kill anything in his way to save her, including the King’s Guards protecting their king. Instead of this being Evil Trace, it could be Trace killing anyone in his path to save Flora, like in the comics. In this scenario, Adelaide could not have been sickened/weakened by the Templar’s magic, and thus joins the battle to protect her homeland/kingdom, fighting alongside her guards and allies. After brutally killing his Templar captors, Trace see’s General Alabaster electrocuting Flora with Magic, and in his state of anger, believes Adelaide to be associated with Alabaster, thus starts a deadly dual with her, unaware of the fact Adelaide is on his side, and Adelaide being unaware of Trace’s reason for his killings, believes him to be evil and associated with him with the Templar corrupting her homeland with magic.
