I found a video explaining it in a scientific and lore friendly way. It’s his theory, but it makes sense. Basically the Vipers are all females, except for one male. As Enemies in previous games, do as you’re told or your race dies off. After the wars ended and the cruel evil Viper king killed during the war, in the era in which Chimera takes place, they basically became the Asari from Mass Effect. They genetically altered themselves to be more attractive to human males. Again I don’t think that’s official lore, but it makes perfect sense.
