TBF, the wolf probably hasn’t even heard of the Basitins, and them being a warrior culture. He doesn’t expect him to actually be able to fight– many brave souls are willing to pick up a weapon to defend their home when attacked, but it usually takes a lot of training and/or conviction to actually go through with killing someone face-to-face. Even soldiers sometimes hesitate to actually kill in battle. But Keith does have training and conviction, and the experience of fighting and killing before, so he is able to go through with it.
