Remember what Satan said to Eve in The Garden: "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”" Genesis 3:5 Satan's plan was that when mankind ate the fruit, it wouldn't be us who'd ascend to "be like God", but himself! Consider if mankind never fell... the Devil could only ever advocate of God blessings upon us. When Man fell, then the Devil could advocate of God both blessing and curse, upon whom he wished. Essentially, causing Mankind to fall into sin was Satan's scheme for a power grab over this world.

You see, this discussion I was having on Natani's gender was based in textual backing. I literally can't control how other people interpret a work or its characters and I think it's totally fine for people to interpret characters in a different way than me, and similarly, I can't physically stop someone if they interpret Natani in a certain way because of a fundamental disrespect for trans people. At the same time, some ideas have more explicit textual basis than that which is inferred, but instead of acknowledging this, the person I was talking with continually condescended me, assumed me ignorant, repeatedly made horrifyingly rude assumptions about who I am, and revealed their own transphobia. I'm willing to respect people who think Natani's gender is more complicated than him just being a man, but a lot of people who think of Natani as a woman first and foremost do it because they just fundamentally do not respect trans people, and that affects me as a trans person.

You and the others are honestly so right for this. Over on another website, I got into it with someone who insisted that Nat was a woman, trying to read between the lines to find all these moments where Nat was "displaying his real desire to be a woman", despite all moments (that I cited and they promptly ignored) where Nat is very explicit about identifying as a man and wanting to be referred to as a man. When my argument came down to "You should respect trans people at their word about their identities regardless of their bodies", their response was that I should be grateful for how far trans representation has come, that I as a trans person was projecting an inability to pass onto fictional characters, and then blocked me. So like, any good graces I had for discussing the topic have gone out the window. Unless something changes in the future, Natani's a man. I am not debating it.

That's incorrect, it's been confirmed that Natani's masculine feelings and male identity all comes from himself. The link to Zen had no impact on it, but Zen thought it did, and that belief got carried over. It wasn't until the link was first broken that Natani realised that it's all him.

Having followed this story for a number of years, it's my understanding that Natani is physically a female, but had her soul shattered by a powerful mage during their early days as assassins. It was rebuilt by magic, using parts of her brother Zen's soul to fill in the missing bits, giving Natani a male personality, although her femaleness is still there, personified by Youngtani, and she struggles with this a lot. Therefor it's safe to say that she's literally both.

It doesn't have to if some people would simply respect pronouns and gender identities, especially considering there are trans fans who love the character. A little decency goes a very long way. Gratification has nothing to do with why I've been calling people out over this. As someone who is LGBTQ+, the misgendering offends me. I don't block anyone when they do, they just block me when I tell them to cut it out, and that tells me all I need to know about their character.

I'm at a point where I almost never see the abusive pronoun police because I blocked them all after getting sick of their harassment. All these comments where anyone uses 'she' or 'her' to refer to Nat, and I 'load replies' and there's like 1/3 of the number it said there were. XD

um...yeah, sure my dude. whatever you wanna say. :/ The most relatable part of Natani (btw) is that Gender/Societal Norms are a b!t when you don't either follow them, nor fit into them. The rest are the results of one VERY unfortunate day... Anything else you choose to take from it is your own doing/headcanon & no one else has to go along with it. As simple as that honestly, no phobia involved (unless, again, you want it to; I don't btw)

The block button doesn't really do anything meaningful and frankly isn't adequate for this sort of problem, so while these back and forth discussions suck, they're kind of necessary. There's so much evidence laid out backing up Natani's status as a trans man who prefers to be referred to by he/him, including direct confirmation from the guy who actually created Natani and the universe he lives in through ref sheets and DA comments, yet for some reason or another certain repeat offenders refuse to use his preferred pronouns. Wanting to get a reaction out of people by being controversial, or genuinely not believing in/disliking the existence of trans people, I dunno their reasoning because I rarely ever stick my head into these arguments, they burn me out. I don't particularly care either. The real problem is the precedent set by misgendering Natani, that it's okay to disregard a critical identity trait that makes one feel comfortable with themselves. Irl trans people who read this comic could be made to feel less welcome when they see other readers choose to blatantly disregard a highly relatable part of a character's identity like that, and I know for a fact the Twokinds subreddit is one of the more welcoming places for fans on the LGBTQ spectrum specifically because of the heavy-handedness towards people who misgender, they don't need to see nor put up with that nonsense there. I'd rather these discussions didn't happen and judging from group chat messages with certain individuals who repeatedly defend Natani in these comment sections, they don't like them either. It's not about gratification nor seeking attention, if anything it's about throwing negative attention on people who continue to misgender because it's deserved. This isn't the sort of issue that should just be pushed aside and ignored using the block button because it has the potential to do quite a bit of harm to certain people if left unchecked and therefore the people who do keep up the behavior should be called out for it, their behavior is not okay.
