Trace was much much worse, but new Trace had several pretty major moments of rejecting his old self. In many ways, that old Trace is dead and new Trace killed him. I'm not sure Eric has really shown himself to disagree with his old principles, except specifically for Kat. Unless I'm forgetting somewhere where he decided to reject slavery of his own choice, and not under duress to do so. Eric's mostly been a decent person because better people forced him to do so, which is a step in the right direction, but it is only a small step, nowhere near redemption. It's possible, too, that Eric's journey isn't finished yet and he has major character growth yet to come, but I haven't gotten that impression yet. On Natani and Zen - I think Natani showed clear regrets about a lifestyle he was forced into from the very start. It doesn't excuse his actions, but it makes his redemption a lot easier if he was never in favour of those actions but his life depended on continuing and he bailed when he saw a way to survive. Zen's a more difficult case, I think he might still be a bit evil because I think he didn't view his past actions as wrong, and his current actions are good because he cares about opinions of some good people. It's also a small step towards redemption but nowhere near complete.
