To be fair... Nora also is likely a level of "ancient" that probably hurts to even think about. I would not be surprised if she knew the 4th Mask. Seeing the kind of stupid things people do over and over and over again would make anyone spikey.

Not to be disagreeable, but Nora took care of and tolerated Trace (even when he was being intolerable) and as mean as her lessons can be show me one that was physical torture or 'painful' rather than embarrassing or uncomfortable in the extreme...
