Fun fact, and potential spoiler: Dad shows the captain a precious object. I'm planning for that to be an important plot point later, and for it to generate a big decision for DD. BUT I am also over here chuckling to myself because uhhh what if I come up with something better between now and then. At this point, I feel open to big swings in the story down the line, which could include obviating any little tidbits of foreshadowing like this. Will I have to come back and revise this out? Reader, you know as much as I do.
Also, yes, the little sound effect is supposed to say "CATCHED." Thank you to everyone who has been catching actual, unintentional typos on previous pages. I am fixing them as you point them out, and thank you for helping me improve the text, so that I can (hopefully) get away with intentional typos like this one.
