I understand. If you ever do, please announce on your Patreon. “Complete” or not, I would love to have a physical page that we saw you reference, sketch, and ink near my workspace for sentimental reasons. You have no idea how much I learned these past couple of months reading your posts. It just means a lot to me. I think the biggest thing you taught me was patience and that this is a process. Nothing just comes together by luck. Digging for references, testing for the right combination of tools, etc. It was pretty eye opening.

HIIII TONYYYYY. Regret to report that I got distracted by Garth Nix on the way to Kay, but am excited to have a good scene-jump lined up!

I don't think I've ever put a page up for sale before. I have mixed feelings about it. And if I did, I still don't think I'd fill the blacks. Sure, it might make for a prettier Art Object if I did fill it in (though it would still be all streaky), but if someone's buying one page of a comic book, they're already paying to own *part* of a complete art object, (with the complete artwork being the "graphic novel," depending on how you look at things), so maybe that includes an understanding that "this inked page is a part of the comic-making process," so the page being "complete" matters less. I guess it depends on the motivations of the collector and how you look at the art-objectiness of everything involved.

Thank you for sharing, as always, reading these are super interesting and informative. A random question: do you ever sell original inked pages? Do you approach them differently if you you do (like completing manually filling in the blacks just so that it feels more complete?)

I enjoy Kay’s books too, good listening for those long hours inking ;)
