Clouds are fun cos there's a lot to them (shape language, atmospheric and regular perspective, lighting, shadows... gosh!) but you can get away with a lot of abstraction

Oooo, thank you! That makes me really want to try painting more organic materials. Clouds are definitely fun and forgiving.

Organic landscape scenes are relaxing for me - I love painting clouds, hills, atmospherics, beaches, water. You don't have to bother with perspective or details too much, and can just render away.

I'll def keep that in mind! I'm probably using too many brush strokes to blend and it makes me lose any sense of direction and shape

Hopefully this replies correctly; I think avoiding that muddy look comes with experience, and making sure that you work with colour temperatures and deliberate, intentional brush strokes.

Thanks for answering! Yeah I use Procreate and I stick with a hard round brush and do the same thing with the eyedropper tool. My blending sometimes makes surfaces look cloudy though

Ty!! ✌ I blend by eye-dropping the colour and painting over. Mixer brushes seem more suited for if you use photoplates, but I think I might just be using them wrong? Smudge tools I also don't use very often, but obviously nothing wrong with that approach either.

Killed it with the composition omg! Do you let your regular brushstrokes blend things together? Or do you use a mixer brush or smudge tool thing do that?
