Goofing around with AI Art
🕑 Added 2022-11-14 13:00:11 +0000 UTCI have to admit, I was a bit curious about the AI art that was coming out recently, and then with the recent...choices...from DA, I figured it might be worth it to share something I had been playing around with through an AI generator.
Just to be clear, I have no intention of diverting time or energy to this beyond just goofing around. I'm quite content making comics for you all with my current process (and hopefully you prefer that too!). But I do enjoy seeing where technology could be going and wanted to give it a try. I liked the mix of traditional art and photo-realistic, but it takes a lot of effort to get out of that uncanny phase.
It's something I'll definitely keep tinkering with, could be interesting for character sketches or background drafting.
To be clear: I have no intension of switching my art style or methodology any time soon, this was just me experimenting with a “hot” trend.

Yeah, a bit jarring the volume of AI art on DA—but you can rest assured it won’t be taking over here. There’s something to be said about quick drafts and iterations, but I think that’s where the value ends. Thanks for the feedback!

100%! Didn’t mean to create any confusion, I’m not looking to switch to AI art, this was just a curiosity of mine.

Certainly a divisive topic of late. I can understand people's concerns with it taking over but it also seems intriguing and like it could be a useful too. Though i will say that it's kind of taken over on da.

To be brutally honest I wouldn't pay for AI art ever because I could do that too. I'm not saying it's bad but I don't think it can replace artists.

Thanks for the feedback! 1. It’s good to hear I’m not out of a job yet, but 2. Yeah, there’s something very dissociating with just plugging in a few keywords and something spits out art. I’m pretty committed to my style/technology.
