Not a Floyd fan as such, but Comfortably Numb is an excellent song. I've never played close attention to the lyrics - I see now what you mean about the dual point of view. You might have some sci-fi story ideas in those ramblings. I was thinking also of Yossarian in Catch-22. I agree about the world being insane. But do you think that's always been the case? My parents were children in WW2 and lived through the heavy bombing of Liverpool - like Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five. Their world must have felt insane. There was a government poster at the time - Keep Calm And Carry On. Perhaps that's the best we can do in a crazy world.

Yes! I remember watching it like that in high school. There was also the rumor that someone hung themselves from one of the trees
