Rene Churchill

I've been greatly enjoying the story and looking forward to seeing the Lord Magistrate flip out when Rou Jin asks him for help. This chapter is just a tease! I'm frustrated waiting for the next chapter, but know that it'll be worth it in the end.

Andreas

Thanks for the info! :)

TheCommensuratePup

That poor poor man

Imspinnennetz

Chapter is again delayed to tomorrow due to rewrites.

Fortunis

I'll be honest. I'd much rather you take the time and keep up the quality of the story we all love than force yourself to maintain some arbitrary schedule.

VexedGamer

Conscription? For Jin?

Chad Hagner

I couldn't stop laughing! Poor magistrate, but I love the Hijinks. Great chapter!

Mad Max

It won't happen until either of them loses it and starts ranting to the other. Just like a blue boy and a comissar.

Ozan Toker

It is good if you are taking more time to come out with a result you are satisfied with. Just be careful of perfectionism, it can kill motivation and poison accomplishments

Jan Alexander

Lord Magistrate, one of best side characters! Haha.

Epsilon Rose

That would be to much like a cultivator for his stomach to handle.

Undead Writer

Thanks for the chapter!

Some person

That is something I actually have noticed. The shear amount of books I have read that stumble over conversations like awkward children is honestly staggering

GuyWhoReadsALot

In addition to what the others said, a big, subtle part of it is that it's well written. There's almost never a grammatical error or awkward sentence, it all flows well.

Some person

Nah I think it’s H’s reason lol. In all honesty though that’s a pretty good way to put it … that and I have read tons of cultivation stories and this one just doesn’t carry the same tone and it’s refreshing

Heidao

The gif of Jake the Dog silently screaming in pain, would fit the internal image of the magistrate perfectly

Mickey Phoenix

It's because it's about good people. The world needs more good people, and literature needs more models of good people. But the thing that makes BoC stand out so much from the crowd is that in a world where nearly everyone we meet is a good person or becomes a good person when given the opportunity -- they're all good people in entirely unique and personal ways. And that's something it's really hard to portray well in fiction.

Mickey Phoenix

"The older I get, the more I admire and crave competence, just simple competence, in any field from adultery to zoology." -- H. L. Mencken

Sassy

I love the Lord Magistrate so much.

H

Because it features a good natured farmer and his glorious cock?

Imspinnennetz

I think this is taking place around the time when his grandad received Jin's reply. I expect the timing of Jin's grandad arriving will be connected in someway to the timing of Jin and Meiling's child.

Some person

Can anyone tell me why I love this story so much? I can’t quite put my finger on why I find it so entertaining… or endearing….

Killer Pickle

What ever happened to the letter from the royal army about conscription and the so called meeting with Jin's grandad?

Kedar

I can't wait for a cultivating haertburn qi joke

PaulRovinsky

I really really want to see the Magistrate find out how old Jin really is. And just have him reevaluate their every interaction. It'll be hilarious.

Sebastian Rubin

Poor magistrate. Here's to hoping they finally resolve the misunderstandings!

Demian Buckle

Thank you for the Chapter.

Tzeneth

Have you met people? Being competent at your job IS a morale virtue :P

Loves2Spooge

Jin and Lord Magistrate are mood kindred. They must recognize this!

Teh One & TrueTabi

I'm not sure how much more of this he can take. Either he develops ulcers from all this stress or he finds out that Jin really doesn't see it as putting him in debt or anything... of course he might get ulcers or a heart attack just from discovering anyway.

Tonberry

I do love that everyone holds up the lord magistrate as a paragon of moral virtue simply because he’s extremely competent.

KDBA

I read BoC because it's *good*, not because I want regularly scheduled distractions (I read other, more popcorny stories for that). If it takes time for a chapter to take form then that's all fine by me.

Justin

Thanks for the chapter. Really enjoyed it and looking forward to the dinner

Alexander Dupree

Could just be straight anxiety. That shit sucks.

Zarik0

Nono not Emperor, Emperor is Jin and not on his choice :) The Magistrate will be The Prime Minister :P

Alexander Dupree

Hey not sure if you do any outlining or not but it's something that works for writing longer form stories. Even if you have it in your head writing it out helps you avoid chapters that don't make sense.

Xodarap4

This was brilliant and gave me so many new questions. It occurs to me that cultivator breast milk is a Qi material of its own right no matter how Lewd and deadly acquiring a bottle of some would be from the jade beauties. Did people really use powdered jade in their seals?

Oskatat

Aw, poor lord magistrate. I hope he gets some peace of mind soon

Imspinnennetz

Jin's food is good at solving the very gut problems that Jin causes. The true cycle of life. :)

Arnon Parenti

He has a gut problen cultivating for a year now.

Nicholas Roberts

I'm worried about my main man the Lord Magistrate. That's some really severe gut pain, are we sure he ain't got Chrons disease or something? The brother needs to meet the great healing sage

Jeff Scott

After all this I hope he finally learns the whole truth about Jin. He has earned it and could use a friend he can vent with.

Owl Face, Chucker of Wood

Honestly surprised the Magistrate hasn't just coughed up blood at this point.

Carlos Torres

At this rate, I won't be surprised if Jin somehow makes him Emperor on accident.

taukid

I hope THE LORD MAGISTRATE accidentally explodes his fork at dinner revealing he's on the cusp of becoming a cultivator and Jin needs to train him.

Elias A Rosado

Even the author must bow to the power of narrative flow.

Imspinnennetz

Poor lord magistrate. He is going to blow a gasket once Jin tells him about the tournament.

Tom Marshall

I can't sleep tonight so your chapter just dropped at the the best time *chefs kiss*
