Lettered Wolf

I didn't expect Big D to be starting an adventure but I'm looking forward to it. On costumed Meimei pictures I might just be sleepy but I'm not getting the following references could someone enlighten me? "A robe that looked fit for a princess, with floral designs all over it, and hairpins. A shimmery blue dress, and odd, heeled shoes."

Arvid Hedebark

I like the tone as well but feel like it needs to be abit more filled out, or if you want to keep it short try to spend less time in the characters heads and portray a scene or event involving them. Then you can possible say more with less so to speak. Easier said than done though. And I like your new take on the regular cultivators to humanise them more as just singularly determined individuals that makes them falling into narcissism and vices more easily. Just a general thought about the concept of cultivation that I have thought about that could serve as some inspiration. The act in and of itself is kinda all about extreme personal development where you shave of parts of your personality that are weak and hold you back however if you do so in the pursuit of martial might that would mean becoming more and more singular and one dimensional as a person and succeptible to the darker parts of that way of life. It would make them really fitting for it but also empty as a person as you with time become the archetype of what you practice. Feel like the take on the Dao of many stories is sadly lacking in this department as it's actually about the balance of yin and Yang, chaos and order. But inherently it's right in the sense that one needs to throw away ones humanity in some way to "transcend" as we are too imperfect in our nature. But the take on most stories has solved it by as previously stated shaved away so much of our being to make oneself fit to cultivate. Obviously I'm taking this way to seriously and to far as most of the cultivation novels are about wishfullfilment and action but feel that it's a waste of potential as I think it's an interesting exploration of human nature and development. Like has been done very well in some western fantasy. And I know that your story is more light-hearted, but I feel like that actually makes these ideas and concepts more easy to implement and play with. Sorry for the rant. Really enjoy the story so far. Keep up the good work!

Personally, I think Meiling is the snake-protective, vindictive, poison, medicine etc. Snakes are symbols of fertility, renewal, and healing in many cultures as well. Japan has the connection between snakes and the harvest, life and water. China tends to have the opposite tone in symbolism, but this story subverts many of the preconceptions anyway. However, the trine of the snake fits meiling. q:Wiki "The second Trine consists of the Ox, Snake, and Rooster. These three signs are said to possess endurance and application, with slow accumulation of energy, meticulous at planning but tending to hold fixed opinions. The three are said to be intelligent, hard-working, modest, industrious, loyal, philosophical, patient, goodhearted and morally upright, but can also be self-righteous, egotistical, vain, judgmental, narrow-minded, and petty." Chunky is obvs the dog, and I think the goat's already made an appearance? not sure. same with horse. I'm more interested in the fashion refs tbh. We have Scholar girl (Japanese schoolgirl outfit/Sailor moon), playboy bunny(the origin, most likely), the flannel pattern (plaid or gingham), pigtails/twintails, a floral kimono(??? unsure of this, so many possibilities, but the hairpins make this the most likely), and a cinderella (could be diana revenge?) dress with high heels. Jin's canadian re: diana dress, so could've probably known about it, though it's a long shot.

The Eldritch Abomination has to then become a disciple of course.

I wish there was more to the Qi-infused garden. Real plants have variable needs for sun, water, ph, and fertilizer, and for magic plants this should be doubly true. Also, magic plants, so they can need or do stuff that regular plants can’t. Maybe Little shop of horrors vibes, but the carnivorous plant is a good boy. Also a great opportunity to be blasé as he grows an Eldridge abomination because he wants it to season his soup.

Casualfarmer

lumberjack flannel. Full canadian.

I very much enjoyed the chapter, and it makes me obscenely happy that Meiling is probably pregnant now. One thing that I'd like to see is a cosplay montage Meiling puts on for Jin as like a surprise present, it would be super sweet to see herstep out of her comfort zone to do something like that for him. I'm looking forward to Big D's adventure, and to what the heck that root is.

Jonathan Seah

Lol, Bi De worrying about reaching beyond his grasp and Jin going, "you needed tempering anyway, this sounds like a good adventure!"

Michael Maor

Very nice chapter, I really liked Meiling's reactions to the various outfits, although I didn't recognize what the red with black squares shirt was supposed to look like. Looking forward to seeing Bi De going of on his own, and people's reactions to him.

Who’s the monkey?

Empty Shelf

So, we have the Pig, the Sheep, the Ox, the Rat, the Rooster, the 'Monkey', the 'Dragon', and the 'Tiger'. That still leaves the Snake, the Horse, and the Dog. Apparently, Meiling has the Rabbit covered.

Bookman

Thanks for the chapter. Did jin draw a bunny girl costume? Japanese style or Casino style?

Hauke Winter

Thanks for the really nice chapter. Not every chapter has to advance the story in some way. It's nice to just see the character interact with each other. Btw there was a small Typo: "p[ride"

Alexis Lionel

This was a good chapter! Loved the little mini followings. And it really felt like a good way to slide back into the farm after spending it in the School.

IG884HIRE

I like Bi De going off on his own little adventure. He deserves the spotlight for a bit.

About half the chapters read like slice of life. Kinda self contained too, but that’s ok. I’m enjoying all of it, for me there is no need for a feeling of “it’s all tied together”. Once you embrace that, you can have lots of chapters like this, enjoyable without “advancing the story”. Not sure I am stating this well, so maybe go with “I like it pls do more”.

PlasmaticPi

The chapter is great, stop worrying so much, you're only hurting yourself twice by doing so.

Stephen

Great chapter

Stephen Pearson

Thanks for the chapter:-) Really enjoyed it!

Imspinnennetz

First disciple is going to go on his first mission outside the farm.

Luker number 5

Nice slice of life with a bunch of minor plot threads getting progression

Norwest

The tone of the first part is just right.

Jack Trowell

Thanks for the chapter, I liked the way it felt like multiple mini chapters
