It’s a lovely idea but not everyone has your circumstances. You need to be aware that many different people are paying for different reasons. Take me for instance, I am currently unemployed. So as much as I would love to be able to support when the author is not writing I actually cannot afford it. I shouldn’t be paying anything at all at the moment but I love this story. This is why I’m very grateful when authors communicate when they are taking a break from writing.

I haven't been here as long as most people, CF, but I'm already starting to worry that you're putting too much pressure on yourself trying to keep to your writing schedule. And I think I'm not alone in saying I'd prefer fewer chapters if it means you can stay healthy! Look at Shirtaloon of HWFWM; he was really abusing his physical and mental health trying to keep to his initial schedule, and cutting back has made a huge difference for both his health and his writing. I've also seen that you're exactly like Jin in one way -- you apologize too much! So please do whatever you need to to stay healthy, okay? And seriously, I'd be happy to do some (free) copy editing for you -- just spelling and punctuation, not content. Just send me a note. I'm very good at it, promise! I already do it mentally as I read. 😄 So take all the time you need, and I would be happy to keep my payments active. Just take care of yourself and let your readers decide when to pay you for themselves!

Eh, there are probably plenty of people who feel differently. Better to not enrage those. As an example, another author I follow charges per chapter (usually 1 chapter of ~40k words per month, starting at 1€ per chapter) and encountered some hardship, so over a few months charged for three chapters in advance. When he was unable to actually fulfill those, the people raged in the comments, and even now when he's catching up without charging for months, people are still angry at him.
