I finally just figured out why I don't like the picture of Xiulan in '80s exercise wear. I have no problem with how se,y or suggestive the picture is -- but Xiulan is supposed to be the picture of grace even in unplanned moments, and I don't find a shred of gracefulness in this drawing! It makes Xiulan look awkward and unattractive. I am anything but a prude, but it's so out of character for her that it really bugs me. I think a more graphic picture would be preferable to this clumsy unattractiveness!

Except it is disappointing. Not for any of the reasons that you are so sensitive about (Seriously dude, chill out), but because it doesn't really capture Xiulan as a character. Tsuu has entire folders of Xiulan that are both sexy as hell and stay true to her. There is a ton of NSFW Xiulan art out there that's also first rate. This one... feels like someone tried to do 'sexy Xiulan' cosplay and never actually read the books.

Kudos as always to Tsuu for such wonderful artwork. Love the detail on Xulan like the flowers to represent her affinity to nature and the Torrent Rider doing what comes first & second nature to him, torrent riding, with his master Bi De. My only request is that the Torrent Rider’s mask be a little more vibrant in color to match Bi De colorful vestment.

In a way I get what you mean, but I dont think you need an actual explicit scene to get that. As long as I know the romance has gotten physical, then it satisfies that “human” element you were talking about. And that can be accomplished with a “fade to black” scene like we’ve gotten here

I had the same feeling but then, he is a good two years older than we first met him right? And there is a remark that he’s turning into a real man … maybe in our mind we just keep seeing him as a kid just like you always imagine nephews staying the same as you last saw them. And then they suddenly grown twice as tall and are sporting this super dubious brushy mustache and trying their best to look all adult and failing and you have to work hard to keep from laughing at them… or maybe that was just my specific experience
