Yeah, and not only her own mental image of herself, but it's also how everybody sees her. There has never been doubt in anybody's mind upon meeting Pi Pa that she's a proper lady. Like Tigu said after her first fight with Pi Pa (Tigu had been attacking Chunky in hopes of sparring, but he had taken it as a game, then Tigu attacked more seriously and Pi Pa intervened): "The fight stopped as soon as it started when she brought out her Five Fold Blades. Sister Pi Pa’s wrath was magnificent. She was truly a most powerful brute-- Lady. She was a lady. She would respect her and call her that."

I think the problem for me, outside of story reasoning, is that the fa ram ladies are all starting to mentally look the same. Tigu, Mei, and Xianghua are pretty distinct, but the others are becoming pallet swaps (at least mentally). When I think of Pi Pa, I see her shorter, and bit curvier, chasing the dragon around with a flip-flop. I hope that chun ki at least has that older, wild-man-meets-santa look that's more like a powerlifter with a bit of a gut than some sculpted nonsense, because another 20-something typical, or even typical-for -fa ram cultivator would be boar-ing.

Ah! *That's* where it's from. Did anyone but Rizu really get any choice in how they looked? Those who consider themselves proper children of Jin (rather than him being their adopted father) have actual physical traits in common: Bi Di has his eyes and Tigu his skin tone and resemblance. Rizu considers Mei more her older sister; freckles and bust size were chosen to annoy Tigu, but she also looks close enough for Uncle Heavenly Demon to assume she's related. Peppa hasn't had a resemblance mentioned, but the pinkish hair matches her pig skin tone.

It fits on ofbthebdescriptions written avout here. I think in book 2 Rizu is day dreaming about what all the animals mightblook like and she gets deacribe as either a willowy lithe form or a more round and plump form bith full of elegance and grace.

It does make sense, I think. Her human form is heavily dependent on her mental image, and Pi Pa always saw herself as a noble figure, and not a matron or the mother-type.

I actually kept imagining her having twin odango buns on top of her long hair for some reason(similar to Shampoo from Ranma 1/2), even though that's more of Yin's thing. I guess it just works with the pink hair.

For those expecting a slighter larger lady, remember that there were TWO potential outcomes - I can't remember who it was, but someone got a premonition of Pipa's human form, and there were two overlapping possibilities which flickered between themselves. One was indeed a slightly heavier lass - my personal opinion is that if Pipa hadn't developed in the direction of Void, she would have gone that way. As it is, the Void has ruined the joy of food for her (by destroying her sense of taste), and is a bottomless pit for energy - so it's hardly surprising she wouldn't have much bonus mass.

Speaking of images, if anyone is near Kansas City, the Hokusai exhibit is excellent. One notebook displays a rat fight opposite a carp 😍 It’s a temporary exhibit at the Nelson Atkins museum, well worth seeing. Lots of the art fits this story- spirits emerging from funerary tablets, waterfalls, musicians, great fabrics, dragons/serpents… It’s art by Him, his daughters, his students, and art inspired by him including manga.

She looks as sweet and kind as anyone could hope for. Just lovely! I also had pictured her as a bit older and with maybe 20 lbs or 10 kg more, but she's simply elegant the way Tsuu portrays her. Can she change her form back to a pig, I wonder? Or, like Tigu, does she prefer her human shape? She and Chunky need to match!

Not gonna lie, I expected human form Pi Pa to have, um, broader shoulders. Or just broader...everything. Like a Chinese Angela Lansbury, but younger. And to be walking with a pen/quill, inkpot, and paper or scroll for taking notes. :-)

Wow this is great. I'm so excited to see whatever CHAD human form Tsuu is cooking up for Chunky and when he transforms. Hopefully once he gets a human form we can get a kid or two out of them. Heavens knows Pi Pa has done enough, she deserves a win.

Honestly? I kinda always pictured her as like a 40 something lady who aged extremely well, where this looks like someone who's 20 at most. And I always saw Chunky as a younger Budai.

Chunky's got such a pretty wife. And lucky for him, she's faithful even while he's still stuck as a boar. Can't wait to see his wild looking human form, who only looks wild, but has a "soft heart and touch" when it's not required to be hard (by this I mean that whole joke about "hard men making hard decisions while hard", but not the joke itself, but the meaning of it, as in hard decisions sometimes need to be made).
