Arthur was too old to recover from the war fully = ptsd John was too young to understand the effects of war = a game But Tommy is different, he was neither too young nor too old, the war molded him into something that cannot be reversed = scarred

The red cavalery uniforms making them mad because the peaky blinders like most soldiers of common birth, were infantry men. (first to battle, first to get killed) While the cavalery usually came along to either finish the battle or late to the party, so they're seen as cowards or worse in their eyes. Yet they want to flex their uniforms to people who won medals for their bravery and actually won them the war.
