Set Designing: Blade Runner
🕑 Added 2022-09-13 14:10:01 +0000 UTCCreating sets has become part of my regular Patreon duties, and I love it! Because it's not just about creating/sewing outfits and having cool/sexy photos, the packaging is what helps present the idea; create a scene and conceive a narrative trapped in an image.
For my next Blade Runner inspired set I wanted to recreate a retro environment, like an old apartment with outdated technology and at the same time a few futuristic elements... This is how I conceive Future Noir, that branch of science fiction that I fall in love with.
To design this set I have put together old classic furniture, electronic gadgets from the 80s that I have bought second hand, old TV's, neon lights, some movie replicas from my Blade Runner prop collection and a mannequin with futuristic clothes.
It's all about a future that was born old.
If you're interested in Future Noir, I recommend you (apart from Blade Runner of course) Alphaville by Goddard (legendary director who sadly passed away today), Alex Proyas' Dark City, Equilibrium, or the recent Reminiscence.

It's not a computer, it's a Minitel, basically whatsapp's great-grandfather. It was a telephone terminal designed only to send text messages between users in the mid-1980s.

So in love with your Set-Designs and your love for details. I can't even identify the computer which makes it even more "realistic". And all those eastereggs. I am so looking forward to what will happen "there".
