Locus Bottle: Back to the Vase Mode World!

Having been a bit preoccupied with cogs and moving parts I haven't done nearly enough with vase mode recently, despite the little voice in my head going dooo something with only one unbroken perimeterrrrr.... We all have that little voice, right? Right?! Right!
Anyway! I originally planned to put together a box much like the vase mode twist box, but with a screw thread instead. However, it occurred to me that it would be interesting to try to get a bit more rigidity and strength into the model by making the outline of the thing a bit more convoluted.
Where I ended up was this! A cylinder with a screw-off lid, where both parts are designed for vase mode with a 0.4mm extrusion width. There's a 0.5mm allowance between lid and body, so if you go wider with the extrusion you'll be eating into that. You could of course scale it up appropriately for a wider nozzle, though!
Now, there is a slight downside to the radial ridges - they can potentially catch when screwing and unscrewing. I've rounded off the edges, though, and that's dramatically reduced the issue, but I dare say you still want to use a light touch when screwing and unscrewing the lid. And, of course, this is still vase mode, so cranking down the lid is going to tear something apart.
But the good thing is that it's vase mode, so it doesn't take long to print another one :) Creative Printer supporters will find this model on dropbox under Locus Bottle.

Fantastic! What kind of layer height are you using?
Printed this today with a 0.6mm nozzle at both 100% and 150%. Both turned out great with perfect tolerances on my Ender 5 Plus! Also getting a satisfying "click" when tightening the lid to line up the ridges. Loving your designs!

Great design! I love vase Mode. I have a 0.8mm and 1.0mm nozzle for things like this. I think I would need to size it up for those nozzles though.

Thank you! ๐ Most slicers will have a setting like "vase mode" or Cura's "spiralize outer contour" that automatically omits the top layers and makes things hollow. Makerbot is a notable exception, but even then you can still set the print to use a single outer wall and zero top layers. Which slicer are you using?
Hi, Clockspring 3D I love your designs. One question I have for the Locus Bottle "body stl" is how do I print it so that the top of the flask doesn't print closed with a top layer?

I initially said I wasn't going to print another vase... Then I had an idle printer and a little time to burn and filament to melt, and then this thing happened, and now I'm printing another vase... Scaled up to 150%, will keep you posted.
