I really don't put enough handles on things! So, I set out to make a tall container with a hinged lid on top and some interesting handles.
Tall hinged lids are always a tricky thing because the moving parts tend to be so far above the point of rotation, which means they end up moving forward into things as much as moving down. So, since this means the lid couldn't just drop into the top of the box, the back half of the lid carries with it what looks like the rim of the box, and everything meets in the middle.
As for the hinges themselves, the hope was to keep the mechanism from being to obvious. so there is a pair of long struts alongside the handle that are tucked away when the lid is closed. that also means they're tucked away when the lid is open for printing, but that's just a bonus :)
Last but not least, there's a bolt to hold the lid closed! And an option for a magnet, too - read below for more on that!
Printing Tips
This is an articulated model, so you'll want to make sure your bottom layer is nice and neat, and that you don't have any print issues like stringing or overextrusion that might bind together moving parts!
The Ambassador Flask prints with the lid open and flat on the print bed, like so:
There's a magnet version!
That's right, if you'd rather use magnets instead of a separate bolt, there's a separate model specifically to cater for that! As usual, it has spots for 6x3mm cylindrical magnets - two in the lid and two in the body.
Print Dimensions
With the lid open for printing, the whole thing will fit in a 168mm square, diagonally, and is 157mm tall.

Further Thoughts
This one's a great one to print with colour transition filament! It's a big enough model to drive a gradual transition reasonably well, which means there's a good chance the lid will end up differently coloured from the top of the body, which I always love. The Inertia Box has a similar kind of effect, but it's a much smaller model and thus doesn't tend to highlight those transitions quite as well.
