Hinged Pi3A Case! And some thoughts on Arduino cases
🕑 Added 2020-08-07 17:22:20 +0000 UTCI have to admit I'd forgotten there was even an A-footprint version of the Raspberry Pi series of boards! The B version is so incredibly common, after all. But the A is particularly useful for for 3D printing, since it's everything one needs for Octoprint. So, here's a case!
I've intentionally adapted the original Pi3B case (though with a bunch of modifications) rather than the Breezy case since the use cases for this thing are unlikely to be pushing the performance limits of the board. That said, the case is pretty well ventilated anyway, with all those hexagons :)
Printing Tips
The case prints hinged open, with the outsides face down:
As usual, take care of your bottom layer, and watch out for any print defects like stringing that might cause binding of moving parts!

Final Thoughts
At the same time as this one I was putting together some Arduino Uno and Mega cases in the same style, and discovered to my horror that the variation between the different boards I had on hand were very significant indeed. Look at the placement of the two ports between these three boards....
I've had a bunch of requests for arduino cases, so I'll get these finished off one way or another, but I'm not entirely sure what I'll do about this! The holes might just have to have two or three millimetres of buffer space on either side... not pretty, though. We shall see!
