Uncomfortable

I think there's been a lot of people who pledged and meant to start on things, but found themselves caught up in other things. Don't worry though - we'll still be here when you've got time!

Marta Tubajska

Aww darnit. I was so busy with my language studies I never ended up having critique or developing my artistic skills :( Unfortunate. Hopefully, I can start over the summer holidays though.

Uncomfortable

I'm excited to get started on them - which might not be for a bit (I first need to rebuild the website itself, which is terribly unstable and has some usability issues). But they'll definitely be coming.

Nandita Dhindsa

I'm just so excited to hear that there are going to be new lessons!!!

Uncomfortable

Yeah, I think there are quite a few people in that boat. It's unfortunate, but ultimately it's what I have to do to keep myself from having an aneurysm. I do hope you find my critiques are useful enough to warrant your continued support, though! And thank you for having been pledged all this time, it's much appreciated!

L Reeves

Haha oops. This is what I get for not drawing boxes for a year. Was a patron the entire time but only had a critique in the first month. Still, I guess I'll just have to upgrade when I get to that point.

Uncomfortable

I look forward to it!

Hey man, As above I think that's fair - I was wondering how on earth you were managing to do so much work. I have upped my pledge - might seem a bit strange because I haven't submitted in so long but I have been working on lesson 4 this whole time - can't wait to finish it and get it in to you.

Uncomfortable

Thanks! I'd say that I'm surprised at how supportive the community has been, but honestly it's not at all shocking - I've always known our lot to be beyond kind and understanding. It's part of what drives me to provide these resources to the best of my ability.

Elizabeth

I think that is supremely fair! Best of luck to you and I'll definitely upgrade once I reach lesson 3. Which will probably be a while because I only just finished lesson 1 and I'm slow :) Wish I could upgrade now but you know how it is.

Sigh that’s true....but still 😦 UGH. I actually have a patron who has declined charges since a long time ago and I just told her I can’t afford to mail her until the cc is fixed 😅 (International shipping is insaneeee) You’re super nice to your students!!! I wish people would stop taking advantage of people wth I’m legit fuming

Uncomfortable

Ahahaha, sometimes they do. Every business venture is going to have its losses, just like declined charges and such. I do keep tabs on them, though. I *could* charge upfront, but I don't want patrons who pledge late in the month to end up getting charged twice in a short period of time.

Handxmade

Ahhhhh I just found out about you, and haven’t started any lessons yet! So I’m pledging $1 first and slowly increase whenever I can because I’m relying on Patreon myself 😅 (I’m also a little worried I won’t even go past the first lesson lol but I want to thank you for all your content anyway - it really isn’t easy!!) Just want to say that I CAN’T BELIEVE PEOPLE WOULD REALLY PLEDGE AND REMOVE I MEAN I HEARD ABOUT IT BUT THAT’S JUST UNETHICAL UGH. I hope you know who they are and block them so they can’t do it again!! WHY ARE THERE PEOPLE LIKE THIS GRRRRRR

Kookie Krysp

Ah just as I suspected, you have the power to stop time! I knew it had to be something simple like that. Lol

InkstainedFox

Get them to volunteer. Eventually your going to need more staff. What your doing is fairly valuable to new artists. Maybe they can build lessons & not give feedback.

Uncomfortable

It's tough stuff! Balancing so many things is fulfilling, but certainly exhausting. Thanks for the support, and I hope you're able to take care of yourself too while balancing all of yours.

Uncomfortable

The trick is being able to stretch your days to 30 hours. It's got to be possible - if it wasn't, I'm not sure how I would have managed to keep on top of my critiques back during my summer crunch at work.

bc likes you

Completely reasonable and understandable. As someone who runs a community group, is supporting a released game, working full-time (plus some!), and also trying to develop my own skills on the side, I feel you. Take care of yourself, get rest, and drink water!

Uncomfortable

:P Established freelance artists can make $50-$100/hour and more. Even if I paid them the full amount their critiques pulled in, that wouldn't be more than $20/hour. I don't think that's particularly feasible!

Kookie Krysp

Makes sense to me. I had no idea how you managed to find the time for all those critiques, lessons, and chatting on the Discord sever anyway. Hope this gives you some much deserved free time. :D

InkstainedFox

Recruit some art teachers & comic book pros as staff, dude.
