That chapter title! I'm excited for this! > she would much rather be ignored when she walked in. This attention was just awkward and uncomfortable and made her want to hide in a hole. Heh. > “Hi, Aliandra. Congratulations on your evolution,” Vivian said, looking up from her desk as she entered. “I hope it went well?” > The last bit was delivered with a distinctive edge that Ali couldn’t help but notice Heh. > Warrior – Human – level 100 Oh, man. Vivian hasn't been able to level up *at all* since her evolution! > “What happened to your class?” Ali asked, blurting out the question before she realized just how rude it might be, but her curiosity was burning up inside her. Vivian had always been a figure of strength and power at the helm of the guild, and somehow, she had simply stopped leveling up. There was some backstory about retirement and wanting to form a guild. Malika had had some surprising theories, but Ali was now certain there was much more to that story. > “Aah, that,” Vivian groaned, her face twisted into the strange expression of an old pain that had never healed. “I suppose you can identify me now? I guess… I don’t mind sharing.” Finally! > “Officially, sapient dungeons don’t exist, of course.” > Ali rolled her eyes at that one. LUL > “That wasn’t all. When I finally crawled up to the shrine, I realized that it was worthless, it didn’t even have a class unlock. The dungeon had been using it to lure in adventurers so that it could grow from killing them. I vowed never to trust a sapient dungeon again.” Oof. That certainly explains why Vivian had such a bad reaction when she figured out Ali had a dungeon class. > The irony of her having to explain her story to Ali, given her class, was not lost on either of them. "Having to"? No one was forcing her, last time I checked. > “Anyway,” Vivian said, collecting herself, “my natural evolution selected conflicting paths, wiping out my fire affinity and leaving my class hamstrung. I can fight, but my strength is closer to a common fighter of about level eighty – and as you’ll discover, fighting unevolved monsters will give you much less experience now. My class is broken. Dang. > A complex expression passed across Vivian’s face before she replied, and Ali knew Vivian had understood the implication – that she had passed over the very option Vivian might have needed to revert and fix her class evolution. Oof. There's always the chance Ali might find another way to get Revert later, though, and it wouldn't have done much good without a class-evolution option, anyway. > “So that’s what Sabri was blathering on about,” Vivian said LUL > “Would it be possible to make level-one monster challenges for the newest recruits? One of the biggest challenges is triggering a combat general skill for them.” Way ahead of you, Vivian. > “There’s a fight in the guild hall!” she exclaimed. Oh, my. Guess that explains the title of the next chapter. Thank you for not making us wait for the resolution to the cliffhanger! Guessing the fight involves one of the trolls and/or Tala. What happens when Ali surpasses Vivian in level? Is it allowed for the guildmaster to have a lower level than one of the other guild members?
