Thank you for the chapter. It was delicious!

Easiest way is to have a partnership with the Adventurer Guild and set up a council with the different faction residing in her dungeon. If they don't keep out [can't remember the mafia boss name] after being betrayed by Scumbag Sunstrider so obviously, I'll scream bloody murder and plot armor. Also, I'm low-key excited to see what Cyradil's trees will gave her. And how the hell does she has no skill evolution? And can sculpture merge with her domain skill? [Rambling off]

Choronach

Will Calen accept his mentor's bow when they'll defeat scumbag Sunstrider or will he let it for his daughter? My opinion is that he should keep it until Coria can use it. Hope Calen will stay pragmatic even with this overwhelming grief

I like the idea of having the barriers around indicating a 'safe' part of the dungeon. I especially like the possibility of having non-violent decorational monsters around anyway (like her light dragonets and slimes; holy ones after she catches up with Naia) with her favorite lookouts like the bats and stalkers in hiding. Having access to sentinels would be... frightening but powerful Edit: on second thought, maybe no serious monsters around the elven (and pathfinder) refugees. Or maybe casually do anyway and just keep them non-agressive and shrug and replace them if they kill them pre-emptively.

Time for our librarian to plunder the ruins for anything she can find perhaps

Now that she’s suddenly got thousands of guests, rather than just guild members and library visitors who can be introduced to how her dungeon works individually, Ali really needs to define and set up a system to clearly communicate the three different types of areas in her domain: the “dungeon” areas where visitors are allowed to explore and kill the monsters and loot the items, the off-limits areas where the monsters are part of the dungeon’s security system and attacking them is an act of war against Ali (like the rift chamber, and ideally her shrine guardian), and the areas that visitors should treat like a town as they are inhabited by real people and irreplaceable possessions are stored there (like the new housing area, or the forge, or the library; Ali should also have an off-limits vault containing copies/originals of all her books, so she can replace the ones in the library that get stolen or destroyed.) Perhaps something as simple as all non-“dungeon” areas (library, shrine, rift chamber, forge, housing, etc.), and no “dungeon” areas, prominently featuring permanent barriers as part of the architecture/decor like Ali experimented with this chapter.

As someone with Combat PTSD, they would probably live with reliving this fight over and over again. I feel so bad for Corin.

Yep, I can see she might not have said it quite like that. Although Lira did go visit Ciradyl because Ali specifically asked her to help figure it out.

"I should have done something. I should have pushed harder. But she had. She had shared her misgivings with Lira, and her aunt had taken her seriously, traveling to Ciradyl to study the Archmage herself and consult with Tol’zerath, The Seer of Divergent Paths. When Lira returned, she confirmed that the Troll sage had observed the same phenomenon – the hungry, leech-like tentacles of magic, apparently only visible in the Spirit Realm, but he had asked for time to study it and track it to its shrouded source. Unfortunately, Nathaniel’s craving for immortality had pushed him to act sooner than anyone could have predicted, and even Tol’zerath had barely escaped with his life." Minor continuity error here: Tol'zerath personally told Ali he had also seen the tentacle-things, during his visit to the library. Lira visiting Ciradyl had nothing to do with that (though I could still see her making the trip, given the concerns).

this tbh

Ali finally has a home again. Sure the Dungeon is her home, but it has more in common with a front and back yard than an actual house. And her friends now have their own places too.

They're still processing The breakdowns will come... Eventually

Other

Im kinda surprised how well they are all taking this... I expected at least one breakdown

Rip Woodham

I pin his serving the lich on those eldritch leeches and I don't think he really knew what he was going to do until that moment when they influenced him while he held the shrine. Cause otherwise... yeah.

Ope 'scuse me

The only thing that doesn't make sense to me is why Nevyn Eld couldn't have just given Nathaniel Sunstrider a dungeon core and let him walk past the wards? After all, all Ali did was put it in her guild ring and teleport in. Surely Nathaniel could have done this by himself.

JHD

That is a bit harsh to say to someone so young, it is hard to see something so bad coming from someone you admire, and it's not like he stopped Ali from checking him out.

CherMi

Dungeon town is a go! I hope they organize their own government and won't try integrating into Myrin's Keep corrupt structure. Discussion about Ali being a Dungeon and laws in general is still pending until whatever kingdom they're in notices her, so this will definitely give her an advantage. Although no advancements for Ali after basically a dispelling duel with an Archmage? Seems kind of strange.

Dero_Dore

Wait, nothing from the poor attendant who just watched their academy locus get swarmed with elves, become a battlefield, then get destroyed?

Dero_Dore

Yes Calen, taken by the very man Aliandra had said previously she didn't like because he had those things around him, your supposed to be the tactical one here!
