Forrest Venable

From a narrative perspective having coins come from a similar setup to Nala's exploitation would make a lot of sense, with this raising the question "how do you rescue a dungeon that's can't leave?" It would also open up the possibility of Ali learning more about magic by getting into an arms race with the currency makers

Forrest Venable

I was thinking about the problem of dungeon gold, as it shouldn't be that hard for a dungeon to produce ludicrous amounts of gold just as the wyvern covered the library in bone. To draw from what we've seen with the mana-purified water, you can absolutely set up a controlled border around dungeons with valuable loot and control what gets taken out of it. Its possible that most gold comes from a fairly small number of gold-bearing dungeons which are tightly controlled by financial guilds. I doubt Nala would be able to create gold coins, for instance. Similarly its likely possible to tell if gold came from a dungeon or not, much like how dungeon foodstuffs are tastier. It might even be able to tell which dungeon the gold came from. Dungeon gold might not be considered very valuable. For a more speculative angle, its possible that wealthier communities use credit accounts instead of mostly worthless metal. The local community would be comparably poor due to the low quality dungeon (mushrooms, bones, and kobolds wearing rags are not worth collecting stuff from) and thus uses hard currency instead. In the long run I don't see currency as particularly valuable for the area surrounding Ali's dungeon. She'll almost certainly create huge amounts of raw materials for the locals to use, with external trade being for novel ingredients.

There is only one thing to do, and that is to follow your heart and eat the living essence either through mouth consumption or book. The system will have to reward her for either decision

But she can make living minions who have those afinities, so if she can learn to summon by proxy or with those minions as a source/"anchor", she could probably summon those elementals. Would also feed into the theme of an army - gotta have a hierarchy & delegate stuff :D

Mahetze

If the nature elementals drop them and she learns the elemental-imprint, she would get the nature essences for free. She probably could only learn the nature essence (and her arcane essence. if something like arcane essence exist), since she wasn't able to learn the bone or light elementals. Or she to be exact, she did learn them, but could only summon them empty/dead bc she doesn't has the right affinity for them. So that most likley means that she also wouldn't be able to create essences for stuff she doesn't has the affinity for. And one whole imprint for a single thing seems like a waste That is under the assumption that there would be an essence imprint and an elemental imprint and not something like a "nature element" imprint where essence and elemental share the same page (they seem conected after all). in that case: go for it

Erik Hansen

Yeah, this really seems like a location to kick start her setting up her own dungeon for realzy.

Azgaroth

Thank for the chapter. A wild high-density mana zone of nature (and light), does that mean it's time for Ali to upgrade her vegetation and monster/animal???

BerciTheBeast

TFTC! This (the essence) seems like a valuable resource to learn. I know they only got 3, but could they break 2 into 15 pieces so she can learn the imprint, then use the third one to learn the variant and then she can produce them on her own? It would be a similar logic to the embersteel weaponry and armor. She learned those instead of selling so she can have it as a renewable resource. Seems like a neat source of powerful crafting/spell ingredients, and if she can make "living" crystal growtsh by tying the summoning tobher domain, she can outsource the harvesting, too.
