TheIronDragon

Hell yeah, Havok

Michael

The Forest Guardian and Toxic spitter combo, devastating though it is, seems like overkill now that the demon horde has been vanquished. Dropping down to a single twinned boss would free up almost two thousand mana for the other choke points (and extra mobile minions).

Antony Claughton

Or maybe only a handful of Kobolds linked to the ancient Dal’mothra dungeon were followers? They would date from an ancient period. And maybe dungeon spawns might not count? Perhaps followers need free will?

Antony Claughton

Ignoring the sapience issue, until they can close the rift destroying the dungeon is a terrible idea.

InLucidReverie

Pretty sure it's written as hanged not hung in this context

Adrian Secchia

I made a last minute editing choice which rearranged the points-of-view in this chapter because I thought it would flow better, but I wrecked this ordering. I swapped back to the other order and it should read correctly now with Ryn experiencing the dragonets first and then doing the Havok part at the end. Thanks for catching this.

Michael

The fact that it’s been so long since the last petition makes me think about how kobolds maintain their link to Azyret. Perhaps cultural transmission is so universal that no kobold cleric ever needs to petition directly.

Tarrim

181. Although it uses sentient rather than sapient.

Drakenclaw

Huh, don't remember that part. Do you know where exactly that was mentioned? I would like to reread that part.

Tarrim

Why would it create a path and it was specifically noted as a common behavior for non sapient dungeons.

Drakenclaw

"Everything points to this dungeon being non sapient." What? The puzzle doors that need you to beat the bosses in a certain order? The custom designed boss perfectly for keeping the demon rift contained? Both of these just about shout of intelligent planning to me far beyond an only sentient dungeon. So what evidence exactly did I miss that would point you to the dungeon being non sapient? I am genuine curious if I have missed something?

Chyre

The dragonets are very cute. I hope Ali figures out a way to use them as reading lamps.

Tarrim

I think he is doing both actually but that is a separate point. I assume they will double check when they reach the final boss but right now everything points to this dungeon being non sapient.

Tanj

Hmm .. Maalgaroth pit lord and Destragoth demon king: seems like we have a goal in common with a Dragon God.

Drakenclaw

The pathfinder guild also didn't seem to know that the Blind Lich was actually replacing dungeons, and not taking control of them. So I don't know how thorough they were with their investigations. You could certainly be right, but even if that is the case, Ali should at least think about making sure she doesn't end up in the scenario of her killing someone sapient and only finding out about it later. Especially if the dungeon binds itself to his domain with a boss enhancement, I could see that happen very easily.

Forrest Venable

"Your proficiency with Esperanto has improved"

Tarrim

It is an inconsistency where what we have been shown are sapient dungeon while they are supposed to be the rare. Some might be lack of knowledge but the pathfinder guild definitely believes there is a difference and I'm inclined to believe them.

Drakenclaw

I mean, given how bad the general knowledge about Dungeons is, we have no idea how intelligent exactly the dungeons are. Pretty sure the slime dungeon also officially counts as "non intelligent" because no one knows about the mimic slime. The destroyed goblin dungeon was very likely made by a goblin who are also sapient. Additionally, most dungeons will probably make themself dungeon bosses and are thus also not easily identifiable as the actual dungeon. And we know the requirements for a dungeon. A domain power as well as skills to disassemble and summons. How high is the chance that some non-sapient being manages to get the relevant skills compare to a sapient one?

Tarrim

Yes our sample is of sapient dungeons but most are not. There have been numerous quotes about most dungeons not being sapient and the sapient ones being especially dangerous.

BenjiVoid

Isn't Ryn there with havok at the start? How didn't she see the new dragonets? Also, Ali refers to them as dragons, is that correct?

BenjiVoid

We've encountered like 4. All of which are sapient: Ali, her father, naia, the necromancer in the forest. The mines are uncertain, and the previous skeleton one was controlled by the lich's summons.

Fredrik Rikheim

Tyftc. Interesting that Azrylet did not have any followers. Maybe Havok can actually help tip the scales.

Tarrim

Most dungeons aren't sapient according to various things we have seen. This seems to not be one so killing it is more like killing a monster then a person. Of course if it turns out it is sapient then killing should only happen if it proves hostile.

Drakenclaw

Thanks for the chapter. "Ideally, they would wipe out the Emberforge Mines completely," Ali, we already established that dungeons are people. Why do you go back to murder being "Ideally" again? I mean, if the dungeon is unreasonable and hostile, sure. But why is killing another person your first response?

The_fourthPillar42

I am curious if we will ever see any other fae people. And how they will react to Ali being an Ancient Fae

Love bookwyrm so much. Quick question - what happened to the book that the troll divination expert brought? I re-read the last few chapters and I might have missed something

Azgaroth

Thank for the chapter. From Ryn learning Draconic, and been teach Elven by Ali. In addition adding Demonic language, that Ali can learn from the Imp... Do you think that with Sage of Learning, Ali could "create" a "new" Language, and that she teach it to her friends, so that they can have private conversation even before other people.... Or better, the more Language Ali learn, the more chance she has to "discover"/learn "True Tongue/Magic Tongue" the "pure" language of Magic, where each Words create Magic... (totally Dream-worthy, but i don't think that exist/would work in the story....)
