Something I forgot to point out in my previous comment on this chapter: > She also attempted to summon the undead Spectral Nightroses > Moments later, a Spectral Nightrose bloomed in its place, this time flowing with death-affinity mana Weren't these called Spectral *Wraith*roses before?

Sort of — redoing high quality walls as the population expands is a hassle and requires effort which could otherwise be spent on renovating more buildings. I could imagine continually moving the walls as houses are reclaimed doubling the time and effort required if only a few buildings are renovated at a time. As a side note, walls are generally more effective with clear lines of sight and no good firing positions on the other side, so turning an urban street with houses on both sides into a wall won’t provide the same protection as a wall which faces a park. Most likely, she will compromise and update the walls as full neighborhoods are incorporated into her domain, but she may not have the time to do that much work uninterrupted.

Alexix

Yes. Will certainly make city planning a lot easier!

Wouldn't Ali just be able to easily magic up some walls using Domain Mastery?

> But more importantly, this was a bloodline skill advancement, and it was the very skill that had sent her bloodline spiraling into destruction Speaking of bloodlines, how come Ali, Elowynn, and Ryn's golden arcane mana hasn't been categorized by the System as a bloodline? It certainly seems to be hereditary, and Lira even referred to it as Elowynn's "challenging bloodline." Ali also has a couple of skills (Barrier and Arcane Recall) that seem suspiciously like bloodline skills but aren't listed as such. Maybe the System just doesn't have enough examples to recognize it as a proper bloodline yet? > Generally, rare-grade items had five or more enchantments Didn't it used to be described as almost impossible difficult to have more than three enchantments on an item? > “That is… disturbing news. These flowers only bloom when the energy of the departed lingers. If he is involved, it cannot be for honorable purposes.” Hmmm... "The energy of the departed"? ...Oh. Oh, no. This gives me a Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Idea. What if Nevyn Eld is trying to use his necromantic array to bring back Elowynn's soul so he can turn her into a greater undead or dungeon monster. That seems like the sort of thing Timewalk would do, at least temporarily, and I feel like we're about due for another big drama arc. We've had a bit of that lately, but nothing on the scale of Lira's forest being destroyed or Ali finding out she's a dungeon, at least in my opinion. Worse, this idea would neatly explain why Nevyn Eld hasn't seemed particularly interested in Ali for her golden mana since she woke up. I also have another Terrible, Horrible (you get the idea) Idea for what the necromantic array might do. Maybe it's a trap meant to bind Ali to this dungeon against her will somehow. We still don't know for sure if any of the dungeon bosses may have been bound to the Temple of Aman Rak against their will.

I like the idea, although Ali will need to start thinking about civil defense if she wants her domain to become a real city. Perhaps a large number of low level minions with good perception skills trained to raise an alarm rather than fight directly could give her an adequate defense for her civilian population without an excessive mana reservation cost. Combing the alarm system with small local garrisons and a reserve force near the library (her de facto government center) should make things safer for her population than Myrin’s keep is. For good measure, Ali’s new teleport will help with defense if she hears an alarm raised (which can be arranged by giving sending magic to the local garrisons, or even the patrols). Until much more of the ancient city is reclaimed, wandering monsters will remain a problem because there won’t be walls between the civilized and unreclaimed areas yet (due to the likely ongoing growth, which will make building sturdy walls impractical since they will need to move too often). It’s a problem that can be managed adequately by patrols, though. Looking further ahead, I see the arcane mana condenser turning up as the populated portion of the city grows, leading to advances which benefit her civilian population.

I want this.

Maestro

You are spoiling us at this rate and I'm not complaining. Although, Mato needs more progress. Poor dude does not feel like he has gotten anywhere near as much as the rest of the team out of this dungeon experience. Hopefully the giant troll segment has some type of loot/advancement for him

TheIronDragon

I think this troll dungeon arc has probably been my favorite so far, thanks for the chapter!

Stephen Jobbs The Heel Who Always Loses

Thanks for the chapter. I really appreciate them.

Alexix

Wow, another chapter!! Thank you for the meal. Would be cool to have Ali start remaking some of the houses and some people could start living down there properly
