With her going to hunt stuff in different dimensions definitely, it would be fun to have Naia come with a few devouring consumption and clean the battlefield

Rook

I don’t see it that way, at least not fully. It’s showing the made a tactical blunder not allowing for the Lich to skip the targets they expected and that meant the keep was under-defended and under-prepared. I’d agree that’s maybe been not the best handled as they have seemed overly blasé in a way that’s a bit distracting. But what Calen and Wonderbear have done is give Ali the ability to really shine next chapter. That’s up to six authority powered bosses (hopefully a few with death immune) about to join the fray. Plus Ali hasn’t started her own attack run yet. She’s a ring full of wands after all 😀

Rook

I “hate” not getting to see their big advancement, but it was worth it for that arrival and the superbear landing. Really good chapter, thanks. Can’t wait for the next one. I need Ali to go toe-to-toe with the Lich at some point in a magic duel. Really put that new runemage stuff to the test!

So, how big is bear Mato now? Like in feet or meters?

> that they would completely overlook Myrin's Keep and Ali as an initial target is unbelievable Is it, though? Keep in mind that according to General Byron's perspective in chapter 546, Southport was hours away from falling, so the destruction of the Lich's dungeons in Meere Kada and Telim Gor likely would have been too late. Whatever target the Lich picked would have to be so urgent that he couldn't spare the time or resources to finish his siege on Southport, which I don't think Ali fit given what the protagonists knew. If anything, I think with the information they had, they should have invested *more* heavily into defending Lira, who the Lich didn't end up attacking at all. I've seen a number of arguments for the Lich targeting Ali (one of which was my own, even), but as far as I know, they all involved information the protagonists weren't in a position to know.

I hadn't recognized that Ali was slow to notice her own importance. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I can see it now.

Hmm, I do get some of the negative comments, and yes it’s easy to “arm chair general” but as I mentioned last chapter in comments, Ali has been very consistently slow to recognize her importance, and usually chooses to protect others. Also, she has always had a trauma complex with the litch, for obvious reasons. If this was a war game not a story, yes many tactics and strategies could be improved (ie why isn’t her whole army specialized in killing undead…) but it’s a story with characters, not bots.

I was quite curious to know how much Authority the team members had gathered.

Malika being left behind is sad. But I predict another miraculous save when she shows up. Also, I am still waiting for Naia to make her presence known after the coaching Azryet provided. She surely isn't THAT far behind the main characters, she should have been able to keep up with the raid groups at least, right?

Kensyi

choosing up for any distance to force teleport is always diabolical.

Thanks for the chapter. :) And yeah, that they would completely overlook Myrin's Keep and Ali as an initial target is unbelievable, but by this point I think a lot of people expected it anyway. Personally I would've much rather had the class discussion and insight, rather than this sudden reveal at the expense of their competence. *shrug* I've come to regard this story as intended for a very young audience, which makes it easier. Not my cup of tea, but the long and daily chapters and consistent quality in other regards is very nice and appreciated. In those ways this story is great.

We got it! A flying bear!

Seeing their evolutions already in action is cool, but I hate the whole setup of this chapter. After everything, Ali is relying on some traps and battlements? And then the lich almost defeats her in one move if not for Calen and his heroic timing. It shows Calen's extremely powerful evolution but heavily devalues Ali's. And I get that the lich is strong, experienced, etc and that a lot of her bosses aren't there, but this reads the same as tier 1 Ali facing him, like there's nothing she can even do.
