Weekly Update | July 27th, 2025

It's been a crazy week. Starting with the good news, update 0.277 ("First Dates") is up now for Cantors. So far, people have been able to download it and play it and there have been no game-breaking bugs reported, and a new character that was introduced seems to be pretty popular, so all good on that front.
On the not-so-amazing front, itch.io has had to de-index all adult content from its site.
This is obviously a big deal for the viability of this game, among many others. Even though a lot of people have joined and played the game by hearing about it through word-of-mouth or social media, the majority of players found it through itch.io's Browse and Search. Itch does seem to be trying to find a workaround (their entire business pretty much relies on it) but it might take a long, long time until Canticle is listed on the site again (other game devs are estimating it might take 5-6 months for them to get through their 7-digit database with a double-digit workforce.
In the meantime, the plan is to make a SFW version of the game demo and post it. Then, offer a link there to the NSFW site and Patreon where the adult version of the game can be found.
What I did this week:
Luca's date has been written and animated (even though the current version is a "first draft".
All the dates have been revised to make sure they work.
Update 0.277 was posted!
What I'm doing next week:
First order of business is making a SFW demo for itch.io to make sure people can find us again.
Onward with the story! Lightsday evening is going to be an action-packed sequence, and I'm looking forward to finishing up Chapter 2 in August. Since updates from now on are going to involve spoilers, I'll be much more vague with them.
This week, I'm expecting to be working on 2 scenes that push the plot forward. I know a lot of our players will enjoy one of those scenes immensely.
Have a great week ahead! Avoid all this Elythean heat (if you're in the north hemisphere)!

Agreed, I think people will be interested in the game even without the NSFW scenes. And you could consider a more chaste version for the SFW so it doesn't get completely different; some kissing and bare chests on men should not be an issue right?

Many thanks for the update. At least in the case of Canticle, the writing and art stand up for themselves without the NSFW stuff. All the best for your future endeavours.
