AOT 3 x 12 - To Watch The Special Scene Or Not?!
🕑 Added 2025-01-19 12:45:04 +0000 UTCI am still quite a bit off of 3 x 12 but thought I'd create the poll now in advance.
I've had some conflicting reports so I wanted to gauge everyone's view.
I was intending to watch it as I was of the opinion that if it was in the show for a reason then it seems more natural to watch it than avoid.
However, there has been genuine concerns raised that due to me being perceptive and analytical that it might give too much away to me to the point that it ends up spoiling a key moment.
Which is why I'm toying with the idea of not watching but want to allow you all to have your say on the matter and I'll go with the majority opinion!

I get you Kaladin - I think the only way to ensure that everyone is happy is that I just watch it once and don't scroll back or pause. But either way I don't want to have to intentionally restrict myself because of being perceptive as that feels a tad unfair on me not having the same experience as everyone else / other reactors due to it. I dunno if that makes sense at all?
KaladinStormLight
You will be spoiled because you will over analyze the scene and think to much about it. If you watched it 1 time and did not stop to really think about it and jumped into the next episode right away you should be fine but even then your much smarter then the other reactors I watch and you will simply know of "events" and conclude "something" and unless you completely misinterpret a small part of the scene(like some other reactors) and i kid you not blink at the right time you will be spoiled.
Sophie Anders
Yeah, it's a hard call to make but I'm not sure if it's spoiling if I deduce anything from it primarily because it is there to be watched. So if we run with the idea that it's spoiling then anyone that watched it would also have been spoiled? It really can't be that explicit of a scene if people didn't grasp it at the time. I think the spoiling has come from people telling me the scene comes up again. Because I never would have known that. People should have just let me watch it as intended rather than telling me that said scene reoccurs and definitely happens because now it's only spoiled if I watch it. If you get me?
riddle
Well yes, it isn't an explicit spoiler like "x character dies" or something like that. I just meant it as it gives enough away for you to know what will happen in a later part of the season. But since you used spoiling in the same way in your post I thought you'd get what we meant by that? đ Anyways, it isn't necessarily a bad thing to know what will happen. You seem to get really excited when your predictions are right so it probably wont diminish your experience. At the end of the day it's your channel, I was just giving my thoughts :)
Sophie Anders
But I really don't think it's a spoiler if I'm the one making the conclusion? It's like when people told me I spoiled Reiner's reveal for myself because I rewatched S1. It didn't spoil anything because it was still a theory đ
Sophie Anders
It's not really a spoiler if it's something I deduce myself though. Spoiling would be being told but figuring something out based on an inserted scene isn't a spoiler? It's just using my brain.
riddle
I don't think you should watch it, I already know you'll be spoiled reeeeal bad LOL. I think it will take away from the experience when you watch the actual scene since I feel like you'll be able to guess what is gonna happen, and will probably make big assumptions about how the rest of the season will go. I don't think people will have a problem with it if you choose to skip it, if anything it would be a small minority of people, and probably people who aren't long time viewers/subscribers. But if you do end up watching it, watch it in one go. No rewinds, no pausing, just watch it and then don't go back to it at all. Then cover your eyes when editing LOL.
Eleonora Frizorger
If you are not afraid of being spoiled then you should watch it. If you know that you will be disappointed knowing where the series going then donât watch it. Usually people donât fully understand that post credit scene. But people like you usually get spoiled big time. đ
Ragdefender2
Of course you watch it!!!! Its intended that you see it. Its equivalent to how other movies and shows do a scene where the character says "Yes that's me... I guess you are wondering how we got to this situation."
Jordan
The show creators intend the viewers to watch the scene, I understand your very perceptive and may be able to guess what will happen but I think the show should be viewed as intended by the show runners and creator of the series.
Sophie Anders
YouTube is so fickle when it comes to reactors and I genuinely do think there could be a kick off if I choose not to watch it in the comments. Others might agree but you tend to find that newer viewers may perceive it as you not paying attention to the show. I think the only way to please everyone is to watch it but not pause or go back to look at something even if it catches my eye. Best of both worlds at least! Truthfully I'm not sure what I want to do or what's best!
Mesbah Mohamady
Please do not watch it ! I totally agree with the comment that said if you watch this teaser, then when the actual scene comes you will know exactly what would happen next !
Dot
You think it would impact your channel? I thought most people on here and YouTube were in agreement that it was fine to skip? Ultimately, regardless of what I or anyone else thinks, you should do what you think will benefit your channel As some consolation if you feel as if you have to watch it, it isnât a guarantee that the scene will spoil anything for you. You should be fine as long as you donât analyze it frame by frame
Sophie Anders
I think I may still watch it because it's the expected trajectory of react content so it is what it is. It's included so I don't really see the harm as it's me watching it and I would have watched it anyway before people said anything :) Ultimately, I'll likely get more backlash not watching it than watching it and I don't particularly want to suffer through that or have my channel impacted as result over a short post-credit scene.
Dot
Also, if weâre avoiding openings/endings because of potential spoilers, then the argument of âthe show included the scene, so it should be watchedâ doesnât really hold up, since they also intended for the openings and endings to be watched Just another point to consider đ
Dot
Posting my concise argument here: Just by simple cost benefit analysis I donât think itâs worth it. As someone said already (which I didnât want to say previously since I didnât know how much you knew), the scene is essentially a preview of an event to come, so youâll see the full scene in context by just watching the season. The only pro of the scene is the editing, which you can always come back to and watch afterwards like the openings and endings The con is that it potentially ruins the impact of a very integral event later on in the season Going by that, it isnât worth it IMO
Sophie Anders
Yeah I am ultimately going to go with what I feel I want to do haha! The polls are a great way to gauge but I do still have the view that if it's there for a reason then it serves a purpose!
Man Lit
Do not watch it. It was intended to keep people intrigued during the 6 month break. Itâs basically a preview to the next part, nothing is really lost if you did skip it. knowing how you engage with the show you will probably be able to infer a lot. Even if you didnât pause and analyze frames. Iâve seen other reactors kinda piece it together and they are not nearly as perceptive as you. Also you can always just go back and see the scene after the season is done.
Elijah
I disagree. The credits scene sets you up to think something different to what actually takes place. No one knew how the scene would play out until you watch it, the credits scene will spoil nothing
moose
You're right, I went back to compare and there is quite a bit more cut out than I remembered. My point though is that this isn't just a quick stinger like 'Oh shit there's a titan in the wall?' at the end of S1 that is immediately expanded upon in the next episode, but rather a scene from a future episode.
Russell Gambardella
The end scene of 1 x 25 directly reveals a piece of information about the world while this one directly offers a glimpse, albeit without full context, into a situation of the future plot. You will certainly have speculative thoughts if you watch it. With this in mind, you should do what you think you'll enjoy more regardless of the poll result! In my opinion, this "teaser" is cool and very well executed; however, if you want to be completely blind/uninfluenced in your thoughts of how the future plot develops, you should avoid it.
Critical
Itâs not a shot for shot scene at all. I went back and rewatched both episodes to be totally sure before I commented. There is way more context in the actual scene.
Sophie Anders
Yeah I am worried because FilmBuff apparently regretted watching 3 x 12 post-credit as it lessened the impact later on and that has me like "okay that's worrying"
Abdullah Al-bogami
if u were someone id tell u to watch it, but you're too smart and you'd probably spoil it for urself
Critical
IMO, itâs in the episode which is the reason to watch it. Itâs not like youâre looking up information from a third party. Also, this scene is NOT AT ALL similar to the 1x25 scene. I know youâre very perceptive, but there is very little context to whatâs happening in this scene. It borders on there being no context at all. To keep it very simple, the end scene from season 1 reveals something and this scene doesnât. It wouldnât be a huge loss either whether you watch it or not. Itâs a hype-scene flash forward to get you excited/keep you in anticipation for what comes later. I think the only info you could gather from this scene is that those involved in this scene will not be dead by the time you reach this part.
moose
As much as I would love for you to watch it.. I don't think it makes sense to. If you're going as far as skipping openings and endings to avoid spoilers this really shouldn't be treated any differently. It's not really a teaser, it's just a scene that will occur later. The way it's presented is *extremely* cool though, and I think it's absolutely worth going back to once you're ready to watch the openings and endings. One thing that might influence your decision if the poll ends up being close is that I feel this scene is one that people hunt down reactions for, similar to the reveals in 2x6. Comments on that episode if you skip it will be even more insufferable than usual. *Edit: I referred to the scene as shot for shot, but after going back to check there's quite a bit more cut out than I remembered.
Reginald
THANK YOU EXACTLY
Dagmar Makara
I suppose it's a judgement call then. I still think it's meant to be seen - but if people want to err on the side of caution, that's fine too.
Reginald
Exactly, I believe it will also make the scene less impactful
Reginald
Its still enough context that when the scene actually comes to fruition, you already know the ending.
Reginald
The animators made that scene to build hype because of the long wait between season chapters. The animators wouldnât have done that if it was being watched consecutively
Reginald
PLEASE DO NOT WATCH THE SPECIAL SCENE IT SPOILS THE ACTUAL SCENE IN THE FUTURE. I promise you, you will be like âohhhhhh i know exactly whats gonna happen nowâ
Dagmar Makara
I agree that if it's in the episode, the animators intended you to see it.
Aki Himura
Honestly I've seen other reaction channels who are a lot less perceptive than you figure out immediately what it is about, and so did I when I first watched it. So yeah, if you really want to avoid spoilers at all costs, it's probably better if you skip it. But please come back and watch it later tho, it's really cool! I was shocked when I first watched it.
Violet
That's my fear đ Itâs okay if you come to the conclusion organically, but this teaser scene wasn't a thing in the manga. So we weren't looking for the scene when it came up, which is a better feeling - to me as a reader/watcher (I know others don't feel the same). However, whatever the poll decides is law
Zwei
All in all, I wouldn't worry too much about it because it's great arc either way. I think both ways of watching it will be great and you'll enjoy both
Zwei
Reading your other reply. The scene is obviously there to be something to raise questions. If you think you would be able to answer them immediately then probably stay away. I always found that knowing the scene was there adds tension to when the watcher realizes they've caught up to it.
Elijah
Honestly the special ending has so little context surrounding what it could mean that I feel like thereâs no way you could understand what is happening anyway. Itâs designed to be watched. Please watch it!!
Sophie Anders
I get why people are worried and now I'm worried that it might be less impactful if something clicks because of it haha!!
Sophie Anders
I am too haha!!
Zwei
On crunchyroll if something extra is hidden in the ending sequence the video player doesn't show the skip ending/preview buttons. These buttons aren't shown to let the viewer know there's something more. Isayama has said the anime version is how he wanted the story to be told (not particular to this extra scene but to the show as a whole) so to me that extra scene is part of the story telling
Sophie Anders
It's more because it's not actually supposed to be there like the end scene of 1 x 25 from what I've been told, but was more to keep people excited due to them taking a break. Almost like a teaser. Whereas for me, whose going to watch episodes back to back, whatever it may reveal to me may lack impact because a teaser revealed something too soon
Keller
Yeah, it's tough. I think they intended for people to view it as part of the experience, however. I'm interested what the poll result with be
Aki Himura
Another option would be to not watch it at first, finish the season and then go back and watch it! Honestly I just want you to watch it because it's a really cool scene, but yeah, you'll probably figure out pretty quickly what is it about. But even if you do, I don't think it's the kind of spoiler that will ruin the experience for you, the scene that would get spoiled is still amazing to watch even if you already know it will happen imo
Sophie Anders
I have no intention as I am watching via Crunchyroll and won't be changing that up due to ease of access :) I don't want to watch it if it's going to just reveal information to me that I'll grasp immediately which is why I'm hesitant that if it does then whatever it reveals isn't going to be as impactful later on.
Zwei
It's intended to be watched by the writer and animators imo. If it wasn't it wouldnt be there. You are very perceptive when watching but people are watching you for how you watch the show. If you watch it in a perceptive way, then I can't see why there would be complaint on you analysing something
Keller
I think you should. It's a great part of the show and personally think it would be fine for you to watch it. I also had a question, have you considered watching the bluray version of season 4? It's a big improvement from the unfortunately flawed TV version
