Current plans amidst being busy, I'd appreciate feedback
🕑 Added 2023-04-13 23:54:45 +0000 UTCSo for the last few days I've been in between being busy with my day job, being sick (yay dust allergies), and most importantly, writing "Friends On Another Side" and found myself in a bit of an awkward situation where I realized two things:
1) "Friends On Another Side" is gonna be loooooong. Like, I've written down like 5 'chapters', maybe 6, and there's a lot of story for each one. It's basically turned into an actual genderbend comic miniseries, with like, character arcs and jokes and pathos and that. Due to the size (and the type of content being fairly SFWish), I'm considering making it for sites that support long comics like Webtoon/Tapas and stuff more than Twitter, and needless to say, this might be a fairly long-term thing.
2) My impatience at getting to work on "Friends On Another Side" is only outweighed by me realizing I'm soooooo damn busy all the time.
I've been really concerned that perhaps I've invited too much on my plate in the name of being productive, and I've been thinking a lot about my priorities, especially regarding Patreon. Here's where I'm at:
Monthly sequences and the monthly commissions, I'm still definitely looking to get finished! The current wave of commission comics is almost coming to an end, and for the next wave starting around June, I may be fudging some of the details around and possibly splitting new tiers to cover what I'm exactly offering per month (details may be coming soon, I'm sure).
However, the Pink Rooms CYOA is trickier... I was expecting going in that I'd be able to crank it out fast in between doing pre-production work on "Friends On Another Side", but as you might tell based on the time distance from last part, I may have genuinely bitten off more than I could chew. I intentionally designed it to be lighter and easier to do, but "ambition creep" snuck up on me and I've ended up stewing over the possibilities of it and visual potential with it far more than necessary, and I've realized it might've turned into more of an obstacle for me than just a fun interim project.
I know folks did vote on it as a project of interest alongside "Friends On Another Side", but now I'm starting to worry if maybe I misinterpreted the poll, merely gaging "potential interest" as "actual demand" and overstepping myself for the sake of false pressure. Or maybe folks do want to see it and my patrons are in fact very patient in handling unexpected delays? Either way, I felt like I needed to get this off my chest as to not prolong any concerns about it, because as it turns out, I'm not MeowWithMe or their team of multiple artists aha
I dunno if I should be like, indicating the Pink Rooms CYOA should be delayed greatly for the sake of getting a move on with "Friends On Another Side" or just go out and say I should put it on hiatus, either way it's a decision I've been afraid to make for now without the approval of yall, because it's unfair for me to betray your support like that. Your patronage has been exceptionally appreciated and I hope this circumstance isn't unforgivable, and I very much do wish to continue rewarding your support with the content I want to get done ASAP, so I'd like to hear your thoughts before making a call on that matter. Should I give the CYOA a rest for the sake of getting the 80-or-whatever-so-page comic rolling, or try and blaze through this pink hornfest?

Thanks for the feedback! And yeah, Itchio release might be nice once the project's close to complete aha, but that's mostly a long-term thing.

Things like that can happen to anyone, be it an artist, a writer, a game dev etc. Cutting down on content, postponing releases, you name it. That's nothing to be ashamed of, that is simply a part of creative process. If I were to say personally, as a big fan of your stuff, but also someone who had to deal with similar issues a few times in the past, it's completely ok to postpone the Pink Rooms. You don't want to overload yourself with work, and forcing yourself to do it all can negatively affect the main project. Your reasons for not doing everything according to plan are more than understandable and I'm pretty sure people would patiently wait for when you have more time for continuing a side project. That is unless you feel like you can squeeze it in with current workload in mind, but I would really want you to not force yourself just for the sake of forcing yourself. Also, just a thought. Were you thinking about releasing "Friends On Another Side" on itch.io in addition to your usual ways, in order to get some more funds for projects in the future? The "Pay what you want" option could give you some nice cash.

I think either is fine, and personally i don't mind seeing the pink rooms going out the window for a larger project with more character depth and story. So in my opinion go for friends on the other side, especially if that's what you feel more passionate about I'm sure it'll turn out amazing either way! π
