What you were talking about with the Predator vs Prey thing is called R & K type strategies. For R selected, high amount of offspring will hopefully result in some of them surviving. Extremely High rate of reproduction and low care i.e. Bugs, swine, fish. For K-selected strategy, lower rate of reproduction but a much higher level of care i.e. Apes, primates, Cows, humans. The "how to respond to change effectively" was my cagey way of saying, "how to handle abandonment issues" which is, in fairness, a bit beyond the scope of a more casual audio...or anything that isn't a therapy session.
