That last one isn't quite so weird--the majority of the protagonists of this series are friends with Grace, including George himself.

To be fair, there really is something weird about Ellen. To be very fair, there are many things that are weird about Ellen. (Magical clone, has memories of growing up as Elliott, actually comes from a parallel universe or timeline or something, somewhat whimsical magical powers, friends with a half-alien hybrid ....)

(Just in case anyone wondered about the boyfriend test, it was quite simple. Any boyfriend who wanted to either meet the parents, get married, or have sex needed to be able to correctly identify the sisters for a week. During that time, they would occasionally swap clothing and/or class schedules. Identification wasn't required instantly, but it did have to happen before their next plausible swap. During the boyfriend test I was around for, two of those clothing and schedule swaps happened in the girl's restroom between consecutive passing periods, or so he claimed, and they didn't say he was wrong at the time of said claims. That said, he *didn't* make it through the full week, so maybe they didn't and they just didn't report the failure immediately.)

Also not weirder than an identical twin that you were told about and actually even met on many occasions, but weren't actually introduced to, so you'd just thought it was the first person you'd met despite them being dressed differently. There was a set of identical twins in my high school whose distinctly different styles of dress were sufficiently similar to not be noticed by a lot of guys. The first semester I was aware of them, I had two classes with each of them, but they weren't both in any of those four classes. One of those classes was a study hall, and attendance was never called there. One of our other classmates was not in the other class where that particular member of the pair had needed to respond to roll call. The twins did not have lunch in the same period that semester either. The next semester, the twins, the classmate mentioned in the prior paragraph, and I all had Philosophy together. That classmate had a bit of a freakout. The twins: "You sat next to us in all of the classes we had together last semester. We never wear the same outfits. We never [admit to] wear each other's clothes [except for the boyfriend test but we're not talking about that now]. Did you think that we were changing our clothes for 6th period, then changing them back for 7th period?" Other classmate: "I didn't notice. I just thought something was a little off, but I just thought you were weird in some way I couldn't identify."

No weirder than fraternal twin you weren't told about until you met?

Come on George. You work in a comic shop. Opposite sex clone due to weird magic/science stuff is a perfectly reasonable explanation.
