The less popular spinoff of "Double Dare", no one was exactly sure of how "How... Dare?" was supposed to work, and each episode mostly consisted of the host scratching their head.
Commentary
"Oh no. Their criticism is VALID?!"
(A criticism that Catalina hasn't technically given about something she's not actually aware of, but still.)
I struggled with the phrasing and brevity of panel two because my natural inclination is to provide every possible detail, and there are a lot of details about why Diane and Lucy wound up doing that (see basically the entirety of The Legend of Diane).
What's important in panel two is what they can fairly be criticized for, however, not what was arguably sympathetic about their feelings and situation.
Specifically, it's what they feel self-conscious about. Putting in anything that could be seen as excusing it, even if it's not excusing it, would undermine it.

As long as there is a clear understanding of expectations and consent from everyone involved, there is nothing wrong with how Diane and Lucy dated. People will willing pay for that type of experience for a number of reasons; they want to be seen in public with a beautiful woman, they enjoy the dating experience but don't want an actual relationship, or they may want to just practice in a situation without expectations so when they are on a date with someone they are looking to have a relationship with they are more confident. The kicker here is not the dates, but the lack of communication around what they expect so the other party can consent.
