Not really, of course. A clarification I would consider unnecessary, but I'm the person who named someone Justin Tolkiberry, so under the circumstances, it's for the best I make things clear.

Oof, I feel that. I'm a vegan who doesn't drink alcohol and I've been to a restaurant in a group where the only thing I could have was the soft drinks.

That comment about "enthusiastic about a particular restaurant choice" reminds me of the time a while ago when a group of us were traveling and needed dinner and the options were a bleak sparse suburban sea of nothing but fast food and Applebee's, and the vegetarian in our group said something along the lines of "maybe they will have something?" Literally the only vegetarian thing on the menu other than dessert was the artichoke dip and bread. Even the salads -- every one of the salads included meat, including the side salad, and they were pre-made so they couldn't just leave off an ingredient.
