BUT SHE DOESN'T HAVE THAT!

NO! SHE WOULDN'T HAVE THAT AT THIS POINT!

In all seriousness, with a system like EGS's, pretty much any spell could be excused, but I don't think pretty much any spell SHOULD be excused.
Granted, that shrink everything but exceptions are allowed spell makes sense. She might get that someday, but not THIS day! In part because it would cause a time paradox, as I'm pretty sure this exact incident is why she would get that spell in the first place.
Although it could just be an upgrade to the shrink spell... As a result of this incident. No, it still has to be something she gets after because of wibbly wobbly time stuff.

It's okay, Dan, you don't have to justify yourself! You're the one steering this ship of narrative through the sea of infinite possibilities for all of us. Yes, the rules of magic you've set forth *could* justify any of those alternate explanations (and I'm sure that as soon as you voice an alternative, your narrative-pilot brain comes up with a route that would take the ship there safely without running into anything that might tear plotholes into the hull - sure, you could patch the damage to your internal consistency with some emergency retcon, but it's much better to deploy some precautionary foreshadowing *before* you make such a sharp turn), but then the ship would be in the wrong place and heading in the wrong direction. We trust you, Dan. If you tell us that Rhoda's magic can't do all three things without extra cost, that is literally Word Of God as far as our merry band of seafarers is concerned. Yes, there may be a Rhoda in some other part of the sea that can do all those other things, but she's not *our* Rhoda, so who cares? (Her Catalina, presumably. Not us, is my point.) I've been reading EGS since that Venus Envy crossover, all those years ago. (I think it was during the goo storyline, but my memory is unreliable.) I adore the comic and I love the extra peeks behind the curtain you give us with this commentary, but every once in a while it feels like you're trying to justify yourself to a mutinous crew and I wanna be like, aww, it's okay, it really is! And I guess this time I did 😅 Keep on writing, Dan! I can't wait to see where we go next 😍
