It can be overdone, but it is something that does happen, hell it happened to me when I was younger. I mean not the point of that, but for about a year my step father didn't allow me to see my friend simply because his parents were getting a divorce. I mean he was an actual functioning sociopath, but that kinda stuff does happen.

The kid fight reminds me slightly of Cartman and the cripple fight.

I like the misdirection with the pink flame monster, I initially assumed it was a part of Amity’s feelings., instead of Willow’s. The one thing I was iffy about was the parents. Personally, I wanted the breakup of the friendship to be all on Amity, and I feel like putting the blame on an outside source lessens it. Kids can be jerks without bad parents. And the “overbearing parents” trope is overdone. It’s just Pacifica from Gravity Falls. But I suppose it’ll add an extra layer of conflict later.
