Because I Liked A Boy is tied to Miss Olivia Rodrigo. Her ex, Joshua Bassett, broke up with her and started dating Sabrina (who's the "blonde girl" from Drivers License). Olivia fans basically went after Sabrina and sent her hate and death threats. And I guess her and Josh weren't even together when this all went down (as she says in the song). I did also want to ask if you ever figured out that track 1 is about her cheating father…it threw me off the first time I listened to it and so I looked it up to confirm it is. The rest of the songs are allegedly about that Joshua Bassett — the same guy that Olivia Rodrigo sang about when he broke up with her and then started to date Sabrina. This is also the main plot to the ‘because i liked a boy’ track (oh and Joshua and her were together after he broke up with Olivia so no lying or cheating on any of their parts thankfully.)

This was my first listen as well 😃This is why I love your platform - I spend time with artists I’d normally miss out on. Initially I could not stop thinking of the similarities to Olivia Rodrigo throughout the whole record, and there were definitely shades of Selena Gomez, Ariana and Billie but I think with repeated listens this album will sound more unique, when I’ve had time to appreciate the details. I totally agree the lyrics are so descriptive, makes me want to open up Genius lyrics and get invested. Skinny Dipping was her first single for this album and it's my favorite song on the album! Tornado Warnings is my second favorite. I definitely think you'll like it more as you hear it more. It’s also very good to mention the line “only tried to keep you close while your heart was failing” is very literal. After Olivia absolutely destroyed pretty much both of their careers at the moment, Joshua had been getting so much hate that he had to go to the hospital for heart failure mostly related to stress.

I’m so happy you enjoyed this album. One of my favorites of 2022. I feel the concept of this album and it as a whole was a huge ste up from Sabrina pervious work. I love singular act 1 and 2 but there was song I don’t necessarily enjoy on there but for emails I can’t send every song is a smash hit like I could listen to this album in full mutiple times and not skip one song!! Yes, but maybe the 3am tracks in a separate video because they are so different from the standard 13 track album. They’re a whole other vibe and I mean they are bonus tracks. So imo, they’re more inconsistent and honestly not really as good as the original album. But yes, many in those seven 3am tracks that are definitely worth listening to.

Just so you're aware, Sabrina Carpenter is an actress/singer who was in the Boy Meets World spin-off Girl Meets World. So, a Disney Channel ex-act. She is also the 'blonde girl' mentioned in Olivia Rodrigo's driver's license. She dated Joshua Bassett after Olivia did and because of how popular driver's license got, and when people "found out" that she was the supposed blonde girl, they literally did call her a homewrecker, slut, whore, etc. and sent death threats her way. That's mostly what 'because i liked a boy' is referring to: "when everything went down we'd already broken up," which probably means by the time driver's license blew up, they were not together anymore. She then released her own song "Skin," which got totally panned on the Internet for essentially, people misunderstanding the message of the song. I think that's what she was referring to with the lyrics in the very beginning of Vicious.
