Please check out NewJeans! They’re the best new thing in the kpop space and are second only to BTS and Blackpink on the charts. Their music is reminiscent of 2000s R&B plus old school drum and bass and UK Garage. They’re the only group I’ve seen do a full choreography routine that’s entirely waacking from start to finish. Highly recommend their last album Get Up, their singles winter album OMG, and their debut album New Jeans!

girl if you wonder what songs people listen to, you could’ve just checked out the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot 200, they accurately ranked songs and albums listened most by the Americans in one tracking week. They update every week and rank songs without bias, which is why there’s always been a lot of drama in their comment section. It surprised me that you seem to never mention Billboard or any other chart, but if you want to know what the majority people are listening to, Billboard is a no-brainer. In case you don’t believe me😂, I’ll elaborate on how they ranked these songs and albums. For songs, they combined sales, streaming and radio airplay using their algorithm to rank songs. For albums, they use album units to rank albums which include physical sales, digital sales, streaming equivalent albums and track equivalent albums. Wikipedia can do a better job explaining these things if you wanna know more.

And some of ambers feelings during the decline of her moms health when it came to her battle with cancer. Music by Raveena is a new wave, middle eastern influenced blend R&B. I highly highly recommend Raye - My 21st Century Blues, that is a phenomenal album that came out this year. If you'd only pick one from my message, definitely go for that one. Also Janelle Monáe released a new project which I love. Other than that, there's not a lot of new stuff atm that I'm listening to. (Well, Miley, but you already listened to that.) I would reccomend Pony by Orville Peck. He is a semi new artist and the album I mentioned Is country. BUT I hate country with a burning passion but this album isn’t country in the sense of corn fields and trucks but instead of a western cowboy who is a romantic. It’s a very good album that is hard to dislike. So I would highly recommend this album

Currently, I listen to Conan Gray a lot (if i had to suggest any albums, i'd say listen chronologically, Sunset Season then Kid Krow then Superache, as it each represents an era of his life - High school graduate/college freshman to Debut artist to Adult singer-songwriter) Other than Cone, I listen to a variety of different artists including Lovejoy (with their latest EP Wake Up & It's Over), The Weeknd (typically Dawn FM for it's radio like album), Custard (We Have The Technology is pretty fun), and a sprinkle of different others who i don't really know the albums just the songs.

I think it's the latter. There are artists like Raye who are up and coming and have amazing debut albums, but I actually agree. There are too many regulars who are in hibernation making new music like Dua, Ariana, Gaga, etc.. I know that Marina has an album that's older that you haven't reacted to yet that is EXCELLENT. Songs I would recommend for first listen are Happy Til it Hurts, We would have some cute kids, and solamente. My favorites from that debut album For female artists, there are two girls blowing up right now in the media. Flyanna Boss. These girls rap and feed off of each other so perfectly. I would definitely recommend The Age of Pleasure from Janelle Monae! And if you want to go back to a not recent album but still a good one, i would say her album "Dirty Computer" I also think that the three mini-album set from Tierra Whack was a really cool project: "R&B?" "Pop?" and "Rap?" each had three songs, and I would recommend them! Also I can't believe I put this late in the list but "Sometimes I Might Be Introvert" from british female rap artist Little Simz is SO GOOD -- that came out in 2021

As someone who follows the charts fairly closely, it feels like the music industry as a whole has really been struggling to find its footing for various reasons (struggling to adapt to TikTok and changing listening habits, lots of older music becoming hits organically, industry recovering from COVID, etc.), which has lead to drought periods where either artists try and fail to have their music take off or hardly anyone releases music at all. That said, there's always artists releasing new, fresh and exciting music at any given time! Here's my recommendations from the past year or so (most of which I'm sure you've seen recommended): - RAYE - My 21st Century Blues (phenomenal debut record with captivating songwriting and wildly varied production from a now independent artist) - Rina Sawayama - Hold The Girl (rina dabbles in more contemporary and nostalgic sounds compared to her more experimental debut record, but her lyrics and songwriting is just as powerful. i think you'll really love it) - Carly Rae Jepsen - The Loneliest Time (carly's become renowned for her impressively tight pop songs, but this might be her best one yet! plus she has a b-sides record coming out next month 👀) - Kesha - Gag Order (a really dark but powerful record where kesha bares her emotions and trauma out in the most raw way possible. it's a heavy record but really good) - Bad Bunny - Un Verano Sin Ti (it's almost entirely spanish but it's such a fun and sonically diverse record) - NewJeans (this is a new k-pop girl group that dabbles in a lot of 2000's R&B and pop, and their sound is really fresh so i think you'll like them! I'd recommend their 1st EP 'New Jeans' and their 2nd EP 'Get Up' as well as the songs OMG and Ditto) (about 12 songs total) Whether or not you do reactions to any of them, I hope you get to see my recommendations and check the out! Sure! Rush by Troye Sivan is pretty good. I listen to I Like U by Tove Lo a lot. Heavun by Hemlocke Springs is really fun and the artist is a black girl in the alternative genre. Fantasy Girl by Revenge Wife is also just a "turn of my brain and enjoy the beat kind of song" that kinda sorta has a throwback Disco/Abba feel to it. Vampire by Olivia Rodrigo is really good. Mermaids by Florence and The Machine is a really good one too. Out of Time and Miss Belladonna by Slayyyter are fun too, imagine early-age Lady Gaga sort of feeling to the sound.

You're not alone in feeling that way but there's been some decent to really good pop and indie singles by lesser known/not yet household music names this year. I recommend trying out maybe Mitski, Phoebe Bridgers, Tove Lo released a really fun album last year, Florence and the Machine also released a good album last year and her pen is very sharp like Ethel Cain and Lana Del Rey. Jessie Ware dropped a new album too and it's kind of like a sequel in a way to What's Your Pleasure since she's been keeping on with making songs that feel sexy, romantic, and not constant heartbreak songs. Janelle Monae's new album is fun but the songs are much shorter on it which made me sad.

I think the seasoned artists now are getting extremely comfortable with doing things on their own timetable, whether thats release five albums in three months or one album every five years. The newer artists are still signing with labels that are getting worse and worse at promoting music or they’re independent and can only reach a certain audience. I think a lot of people want to make music how they did before but there’s just so much blocking it.

Raye’s 21st Century Blues grew very popular this year because of how she departed from her label that wouldn’t let her release a debut album. She went independent and released it herself and it is quite good, but I agree that a lot of artists aren’t releasing full projects anymore it’s just a single here and there.

Gracie Abrams is a newer artist that just dropped her debut album “Good Riddance” this year. it’s really good and she’s been opening for Taylor on the Eras Tour. the album’s produced by Aaron Dessner, who worked on most of folklore and evermore with Taylor, so it has that kind of folk-pop mellow sound. i think it’s worth listening to, it’s one of my favorite albums this year so far.
